Hi,

hey no need to sorry, we all started as newbies! ;)
So you could for example go here: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1112908 and install this kernel. Pick one of the 2.7.4 versions (only these are compatible with XWJW5!) to get root and CWM recovery. Then you will be able to enjoy this mod. ;)

i guess you are familiar with odin, as you got JW5 up and running (assuming you are using windows). Anyhow you could check this short instructions from Semaphore website how to flash a kernel in particular: http://www.semaphore.gr/how-to/flash-semaphore-kernel

feel free to ask if there are questions left!
good luck!

Please make a icons from sgs2 and crt-on addons ;)

Crt-on for JW5 is ready but not released yet because of my little "time problem" ;) will see what i can do, maybe tomorrow i can spent time to finish the promised addons packs, uff sorry guys!

Which SGS2 icons to you mean in particular ?

please make crt-off for bran new room JW6

Yeah maybe i will do this if this rom is behaving better then JW5 (which drove me nuts for the last days!! ) I flashed JW6 a few hours ago and will give it a try for some days, then i will see if it's worth modding it! ;)

Don't know if andy will give JW6 also a try, he is currently back to JW1 and is globetrotting atm. so i think he has also a "time problem". :)

so long!

Someone else with a time problem reporting checking in ;) I agree with you on JW5, at first it was ok but it seems to have a few bugs what make it behave weird after some weeks. Like you have noticed, for some reason I couldn't get the MIDNIGHT kernel to work with JW5 while it worked straight away for JW6.
Personally I'll give JW6 a few weeks, if it turns out to have the same problems I'm reverting back to JW1 just like Andi.

[ps. sorry for my lack of PM's mate :( I'm really sorry]

My first experience with JW5 was wonky but after a full cleaning/wipe, I have been running smooth for over a week...

I almost feel like my SGS1 has peaked with JWx, midnight kernel, and Andi's mod.

I miss the MMS mod (no mms in call ,log etc.) and ZaneZam's extra addons a bit... Maybe if the 'time' problem gets solved ;) and JW6 works out, we will see Andi and ZaneZam back for an encore...

Thanks for the work guys.

yeah sorry i forgot to mention that the superuser app is not bundled. so you have to download superuser from google play store to be able to control the su access.
CWM app is only bundled with cf-root kernel but you can enter CWM recovey with the common 3 button combo (Power off phone then Vol-up+Home+Power at the same time) or for example with the app "quick boot" from play store. ;)

JW6

Hi all,

to all asking in PMs...

I am currently not planning to work on a JW6 version of Boeffla-Mod.

JVU, JW4 and JW5 versions took a lot of efforts and in the end they all turned out to be a bit "shaky" compared to jw1.

I would only do it if JW6 runs fine for many weeks. So I will monitor other threads closely and then decide. (and by then I have to beg my wife to give me the Galaxy S1 back for the development as I expect to have my SGS3 already by then)

Thanks for your understanding
Andi

Hi Andi!

Thanks for ur awesome mod! I just got an SGSII so i will miss the boeffla mod! Seems u are waiting for the SGS3, so I'm stuck in the middle with no chance of a boeffla mod. :(

Thanks again! :D

Hi DanDroidian,

thanks for your nice words.
I always enjoyed working on the mod, yes. And more than happy people enjoy it as well.

You are right, I am looking forward to a SGS3 by around 15.06. By then I will hand over my SGS1 to my wife who is eagerly looking forward to that to get rid of their Samsung i8500 (which is not bad, but also not good).

So, if ICS nees some face lifting one day I will have only the chance to work on my SGS3.

Sorry to say that, but who knows, maybe you are stepping up to a SGS3 as well one day.

Andi

I am also curious about JW6 performance but without Boeffla-Mod, I will keep my JW1. It is been working flawlessly for a very long time and I love the look.

    Hi all,

this is the XWJW5 version of the meanwhile well-known Boeffla-Mod theme.

    Latest updates:

Addon 3 now made public as many people were interested in using my ext4 remount script for Semaphore Kernel users running on ext4. Basically it adds commit times to the file system mounts which should in theory add smoothness to the phone and might improve battery usage slightly (nothing confirmed, just personal experience).

You can choose between the known "greenish" stock theme and a blue themed mod (my personal favourite).

    Version history:

    Version 4.1
    • Transparent dialer
    • Transparent contacts list
    • Semi-transparent power saving widget with green or blue bars
    • Deodexed roms now supported (however NOT tested by me!!!)
    • Addon1 (13-Toggle Mod) now availabe for extra installation
    • Addon2 (disable scrolling cache for smoother scrolling) now availabe for extra installation

    Version 4.0

    • Stock and blue theme available
    • Battery icon with percentage numbers (green or blue circle)
    • Animated charging battery icons
    • Connection icons turn to green/blue when fully connected
    • Statusbar icons changes for blue theme
    • Extended power menu
    • Quickpanel icons (ICS style)
    • Transparency effects in pull down
    • Change overscroll glow to white for stock theme (blue for blue theme)
    • CRT off animation
    • ICS window animations
    • Autodetection of odex/deodex version to apply
    • All apks Zipaligned

In the pipeline to come in next versions:
    • 13-toogles mod
    • ZaneZams add-ons
    • ...more...

Just flash (in CWM Recovery) one of the attached versions, you do not have to care about odex or deodex - this will be handled by the installer automatically.
If you want to flash Add-ons, please flash one of the two main themes first, then apply the add-ons in the order of the add-on number:

Screenshots can be found in the thread for the XWJW1 version of Boeffla-Mod.

If you want to undo, just flash the rollback file in CWM and you are back to XWJW5 stock.

As always: Flash on our own risk! Make sure you have some space on /system left before you flash. I can and will not take any responsibility for bricked phones.

And on a very special request, I want you to know I used partially apktool (1.4.3) to do my mod. Also I used smali/baksmali 1.3.2. These tools have bugs as any other software of course, so it might come to unexpected side effects. :)

    On top of that:
I understand, many people would like to have slight deviations of this mod, different battery icons, different overscroll glow colours etc. However, I honestly do not have enough time to fulfill all your special requests.
I build this mod only for my personal use basically, so it is like it is.

Thank you very much for your understanding.

If you want to still have different Battery Icons etc, I recommend you to use the UOT kitchen (http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen) with which you can do a lot of additional tweaking yourself.
Just extract the framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk files out of the Boeffla-Mod zip and load it into kitchen. As soon as the new files are built by kitchen, flash the zip file after Boeffla-Mod and you are there.

    Have fun.

    Addon 1 / 13-Toggles mod released

    Hi,

just a quick heads-up - the 13-toggles mod for the quick toggle bar area is now available for both stock and blue themes.

Details and download links, as always, in the original post.

    Enjoy the weekend

    Version 4.1 released

    Hi all,

the main Boeffla-Mod themes are now completely ready.

Also, deodexed is now supported - however it is untested. So please flash on you own risk, do a nandroid backup before (your life insurance) and report back whether it worked for you or not.

The first add-on (smooth scrolling mod) is available again as well.

    Next: 13-Toggles mod...

    Thanks

    Hello Andi,

    Very nice theme.
It works perfect on my SGS.
any posibility to add the feature to remove the "swipe screen to unlock" text?

    Thanks!

    Hi dracushor87,

well it seems possible, i will take a look at. This text is really unnecessary as i think we all figured out what we have to do to unlock the screen faster then reading this help text to the end, dont we? *gg*.

    @all others around here

Back from "smali-hell" i want you to know that unfortunately it is not possible to port the JW1 Deluxe Addon to XWJW5! At least for me and at least this particular Mod. :( Samsung changed/removed so many things in JW5 related to the lockscreens that this whole Mod doesn't fit any more. Not in the slightest! I tried very hard, but my efforts all ended up in a bootloop, damn! That personally annoys me very much cause i used/loved this mod a very long time! So i am very very sorry if someone expected this release soon!
But anyway, as Andi said: That's life! :)

So the good thing about that "mess deluxe" *g* is that i was so frustrated that i've done the rest of the addons on just one eve and so they are all ready now! Looks good but still on testing by andi/me at the moment (as you know: quality first! ;)) So this new "old" stuff definitely will come soon! Stay tuned if you are interested!

ext4 remount script released as an add-on

    Hi,

on popular demand (I got many PMs on that topic after it has been brought up in the thread) I finally decided to release my ext4 remount script I am using for many months now together with Semaphore Kernel versions and file system converted to ext4.

It does nothing else than putting a small script into the init.d folder which gets executed everytime the phone starts and then remounts all 4 partitions with a commit time of 15 seconds. It does NOT remove journaling, change the writeback strategy from orderd to writeback or any other stuff, so it can be treated as fairly safe.

What should it improve? There is no confirmed status as such, but from my personal experience I feel the phone a bit more smooth and performant (as it does not do writes to the file system instantly when not required) and maybe it safes a bit battery. But only my personal opinion. You can give it a try yourself and decice.

    Thanks
    Andi
