What update could my G2 be getting? (Vzw)

I moved from my G2 to the 5s. The G2 is rooted and has been sitting unused. I turned it on today to switch back to it for a while. It began to take on a verizon update. I just sat it down due to having to leave. Have not been following this thread lately to see what version the g2 is up to. Would it be getting kitkat by chance?
Also, it if take that update, my root will be lost, correct? I'm all stock just rooted.

The Ota caused my phone to bootloop to recovery. I found a terminal command to allow it to boot back, but it keeps trying to install the Ota again how can I stop phone from attempting the update?

Freeze the "Software Update" program. After this you should no longer see the submenu in the "About Phone" section.
