The only thing that fixed my external SD mounting was to install in boot manager .it's the weirdest thing!

Which firmware do you have? ICS changed the mount location of the SD card and if you're running the Gingerbread firmware then the rom won't see the external card. There were a lot of backports made when they first started releasing ICS roms where the devs would put in support for both.
Regardless of the firmware the rom will not see the external SD
As far as back ports.. no
All the firmware patches were is a audio lib and a modified vold.fstab to compensate for the mount changes

You should be able to flash the patch without the audio lib and it might work

I just meant that they backported the mount point change to the gingerbread firmware through the patch. Thanks for explaining that better. If the fstab patch works then we should get dmeadows to add it to OP with the gapps link.

When you say that what do you mean? I can see all my files on my SD card and my ringtones as well. Under storage it isn't listed though.

Just giving some insight as I'm mainly a themer just getting back into themeing/devving again. I wonder if looking into the pcsc.apk from sense roms would help with USB mounting. Again could just be speaking outta my butt, giving .02 to check out.

My pictures on my SD card, files and music are all visible using es file explorer. Are others not able to see their SD card? I did install using boot manager if that helps

While my SD is working its odd. I can see /sdcard and /sdcard/ext_sd but not all of my files are there. Its kind of weird.
This sounds like the firmware, either update the firmware to one of the ICS leaks or try to find a firmware path for any other ICS rom.
Possibly since most of boot manager does is modify your boot img
So it would mean that the sd not mounting is a kernel issue
