i still cant access my ext exfat 64gb sdcard. it says E: error mounting /storage/sdcard1

Try rebooting again into recovery and try it mounts, but problem is we have to mount SD card manually on every boot

Have you done any operation after rebooting into recovery.
As per my experience if you try to mount SD card immediately after rebooting into recovery it will mount

And also after doing cleanup to install a new ROM it will not mount SD card until you reboot it to recovery

tried to mount the sdcard, then it says error mounting, then restart the recovery, still it is not mounted.

New version booting very fast but not able to load SD card and unable to handle aroma

Edit: Tried the commands you told on latest version and following is the log, I am using adb for first time so please tell if I have done something wrong

C:\DOCUME~1\HOME>adb shell
~ # mkdir -p /storage/sdcard1
mkdir -p /storage/sdcard1
~ # mount -t exfat /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 /storage/sdcard1
mount -t exfat /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 /storage/sdcard1
mount: mounting /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 on /storage/sdcard1 failed: Device or resou
rce busy
~ # insmod -f -v /lib/modules/exfat_core.ko
insmod -f -v /lib/modules/exfat_core.ko
insmod: can't read '/lib/modules/exfat_core.ko': No such file or directory
~ # insmod -f -v /lib/modules/exfat_fs.ko
insmod -f -v /lib/modules/exfat_fs.ko
insmod: can't read '/lib/modules/exfat_fs.ko': No such file or directory

The new version does no more need to insmod the modules. They are built into the kernel
Your log is helpful, thanks

Blazing fast boot.
I have to select "install zip" twice before it can read the sdcard1 (32gb fat32) but at least it does the 2nd time.
Also my hardware keys on my Note2 do not light up when I touch them nor do they give haptic feedback, but they do register the keystroke as I can see selection bar moving.
Hope this little report is of some help to you Phil

Cheers

Life is what happens while we... make plans!

That's very interesting
I saw some devs patching the kernel for some slow responding sdcards
I will try to patch the kernel and see

The strange thing is that every 64GB is a class 10 card.

some cards are worst than others...
I am compiling a new one with some kernel changes
Issue is that no one is providing good debugging, or a kernel dmesg log
I will release the new one + some info for people having issues

Just flashed this one.
Same behavior. Needs to go through install zip procedure twice before it successfully reads my fat32 32gb card. No biggy though as it works.
Details:
If I select install zip, then from sdcard, all work fine.
If I select install zip, then from sdcard1 it will give me black screen for 2-3 seconds and then take me back to main screen. After that if I reselect install zip, then from sdcard1 it will carry on and read my external card just fine.
Also hardware keys on my Note2 still not giving any kind of feedback although they do register when pressed.
Hope this is of some help.

Cheers

Thank you for the feedback
It seems some sdcards are slow to mount, mainly big cards formatted as fat32
It is vold issue as it probably doesn't wait enough for things to complete

I will see if we can fix it
Normally, you should have exact issue with stock recent cwm builds
Can you try please the official build from here:
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
exactly this one:
http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.4-jfltexx.img

To flash it easily, just put it in my zip file after you rename it to recovery.img and overwrite mine in the zip
That way I can narrow the issue source

If you want things to be fixed, follow instructions and give feedback
Else, wait for others to debug it for you

Can you try this one:
Could be there are 2 different issues and yours is different could be fixed by my special last release
6.02.1-sdfix

People having issues on their fat32 cards with newer versions, please try this build

how can i be of assisstant?

i tried the last build with the sdfix, it still show E: error mounting /storage/sdcard1
fyi, my sdcard is mounted as /storage/extSdCard instead of sdcard1, if that matters. also, there is no exfat_core.ko nor exfat_fs.ko in my /lib/modules folder.

last version no longer needs them, they are built into the kernel
also, recovery uses its own mount points, nothing to do with mount points inside rom

Your 64Gb card is formatted in fat32 or exfat?
Did you try to reformat it on PC to a single primary partition

i actually tried both format (fat32 and exfat) in single primary partition (currently i am on exfat). tried quick format and full format, but it didn't help. i even reinstall the mk4 with repartition.

the funny thing is that the 2 drives are visible in windows explorer but it cant detect any disk when i mount usb from recovery. it is correct that only ext sd card were accessible as UMD from recovery mounting, but now none of them is accessible from windows explorer.

So, your sdcard is not working either in exfat or fat32?

Can you try this, while in recovery:
Code:
adb shell
umount /storage/sdcard1

# be sure it is unmounted here before proceeding as it could delete your data from sdcard, or do a backup!!!
ls /storage/sdcard1
# should show no files if it is unmounted

rm -rf /storage/sdcard1
mkdir -p /storage/sdcard1

# if fat32
mount -t vfat /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 /storage/sdcard1

#if exfat
mount -t exfat /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 /storage/sdcard1

After mount command, go into recovery gui and use the install zip menu from /storage/sdcard1
Report if you can see the files
Report any error while doing the adb shell commands
This is important for me to fix the issue for these few resistant sdcards

The card is just not mounted wether it was on fat32 nor exfat. I assure you it worked fine before version 6. But now even i flash the older recovery, it is still wont mount.

i got to this point and this is where i think it is useless to continue the steps you described. the system doesnt even mount the sdcard1.

Edit: sorry i tried to upload the screenshot but it failed for some reason

should i continue the command?

ok i went ahead and continue the command by skipping the 'rm' command as the directory is not exist anyway.

i got mounting failed: I/O error message on mounting command.

Same here if you will continously press the option in change menu background then it comes back to main menu same problem with menu color option
