I've seen in the general section that the auto-brightness feature of Z2 is very controversial. I'm of those who find that the screen is a little too dim even with auto-brightness set at its max. Hoping that this will be fixed in a future firmware.

I've tested Lux Auto Brightness and it works very fine as a replacement as the built-in stock autobrightness. It is quite reactive and the brightness can be easily calibrated.
It is not free though.

I agree, LUX works far better than the default system function.
However it needs some tweak to be perfect; as sometime it chooses to dim the screen a little too much :)

Yes, a profile must be created and edited. This is the profile I've created:

Lux / Brightness
0 / 50%
35 / 70%
1000 / 100%
+ log interpolation (default)
+ 5% Jitter percentage
+ brightness variation speed: normal

It's fine for me :)

Wow that's brighter than me :)

My configuration is a bit overkill though :

0 -35%
10 30%
20 35%
35 40%
45 50%
60 60%
700 75%
1400 75%
10000 80%
13000 100%

Yes, this is why I found that the stock autobrightness was to dim even set at its max.
I've modified my profile a little, stretching it from 50% to 100%, it's better like that.

For those of you who already have Tasker, this can be quite easily done using Tasker as well. For me, I set on auto-brightness but with slider to the max. This suits me for most occasions, except when it's really dark, in which case I find it too bright. So for me I just have 2 simple profiles on screen unlock if the light reading is less than 5, set brightness to 0, otherwise set brightness to 255.

The Lux are on the left of the percentage, however I changed my settings. I like it brighter :)

0 // -35%
2 // 20%
10 // 50%
60 // 60%
800 // 80%
10000 // 100%

Tried LUX and it works quite good for me, but it overrides the setting to keep the screen alive while you hold the phone in your Hand.
Has anyone noticed that too?

Thanks for this. Just got mine yesterday and noticed the brightness issue right away. Gonna give this a try.

The issue is fixed in firmware .69 :)
