Re: [ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom JB 4.2.1 [i605] » Feb 6

Thanks for this awesome piece of work. I enjoyed using by I experienced an odd problem wick occurred on slick ricks PA rom and this as well, when I charge the image for battery appears with the white loading circle as if it were going to load and show the percentage charged but just stays that way without turning off.

I hope you're wrong because the features of this ROM look awesome, but I can't have bad Bluetooth call quality.

Yeah most asop roms = broken bluetooth I'm sure these guys didn't fix it or any of the other known issues. Cm 10 has many bugs depending on the device and developers behind the rom. S3 bluetooth is working so maybe they can get it working fully and properly on the note 2
I don't think any of the devs working on this rom even own a VZW note2 so have fun fixing.

Is it disrespectful if it's true?

There's 50 AOSP ROMs for this phone and rather than fix the bugs still inherent to CM it seems the "developers" just pile their crap on top.

All these ROMs are going to be great- once CM gets all the bugs worked out for them.

Sorry but you are very ignorant to the way Open Source and the way AOSP works on the backend. This fanboy and disrespectful statement displays that on many levels.

Most work in all ROM's including CM, AOKP whatever you name it, share mostly the same code. That codebase is AOSP (Android Open Source Project).. Beyond that is fixes put in place by the vendors which developers then pick from their gerrit and git repos.. This last thing happens to be what CM is very very good at. So with many of the needed vendor fixes already in CM it is much easier to start from that as a baseline. Especially when you are try to get a new phone working.

Beyond the original codebase and the vendor fixes are patches and fixes put in place by the community. This is not meant as disrespect to CM, that project has a lot of very talented developers and are an asset to the community. But many of the fixes you are implying to are found fixed then submitted to CM's gerrit by non CM developers.

While many of the AOSP ROM's released might not have the impact that CM does they defiantly provide fixes that make their way to your phone.

Well I have a VZW Note 2 so does Slick_Rick.. but really it doesn't matter if it's VZW or SPR or any other Note 2 version.. They all use the exact same SOC with some using different radio's.

Nocoast has the TMO version
and I believe that Morfic just got one as well

regardless stop trolling and spreading fud... if you have nothing to say other than to ***** do it some place else

Hey n0coast, congrats on the new bud. What are chances of adding in Pie Controls from PA? Is it an open sourced feature that could be cherry picked? I know that Rootbox has it along with some CM and AOKP features. either way I am about to flash the ROM but it would be a cool add on. Thanks man. @d3str0yd

Argument aside, does anyone know if the in call BT issue is any closer to being resolved?

I would really love to run this ROM, but my Note 2 is my only phone and I always use BT.

Anyone else notice when they turn the phone off and charge that the battery icon doesn't go away? For me when off and charging the icon stays illuminated and hangs the whole time it charges. I tried flashing the kernel again to see if it may help and no luck. I really want to run this ROM but I don't like the idea of the illuminated icon hanging on screen.

I see morfic is part of the Dev team, does this ROM have the Trinity kernel? Or will we see a Trinity kernel for the Verizon Note 2? I was a big fan of Trinity with the Gnex and the GS3..

By charging icon you mean the one in the status bar? Or the lockscreen or do you mean the led?

CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. The team is composed of former members of Team Liquid who have forked the code in an attempt to bring greater speed, better coding, and full authorship to code. We are in no way affiliated with Liquid0624. The rom was forked at Liquid beta 3.2.1 and has since undergone major code changes and modifications.

...

Can I flash this rom coming from a 4.1.2 rom (clean flash of course)? First time I'll be flashing a 4.2 rom and I've read there are some additional files I might need to flash first, but couldn't find any specific directives for CarbonRom. And for that matter, can I just as easily flash back to a 4.1 rom or restore my 4.1 nandroid?
Thanks.

EDIT: I'm using TWRP 2.4.1

Sorry, I'm referring to the icon that appears when the phone is off. It's the big battery icon the usually fills up green as it charges. Everything on the ROM runs smoothly and I had no problems other than the GPU glitches and the power off battery charge animation doesn't work nor turn off.

    About Carbon

CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.

Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.

We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.

Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.

While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

    Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

    Download Carbon

All Carbon downloads and further information such as features, changelog, and FAQ can be found on our goo.im page.

Both nightly and release builds are available. Please note that nightlies are for development purposes. This means that they may not work properly, may not flash, may not build for days at a time, and will probably eat your cat. If you flash these, know what you're doing, have backups, and don't complain when something happens. It's on you!

    Support

We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:

    1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.

    2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!

    3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.

    4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.

    5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

You should thank the Liquid smooth project for the base as you guys just forked the old project into yours and added a few things. Im not trying to start trouble its just bad edicate. This is the one and only comment i am making. but you need to do the right thing, bad blood or not.

we did a lot more than that, actually. anyway, the OP does clearly state that we're formerly of team liquid and that this is a fork.
