Captivate have the same Yamaha YAS592 magnetic sensor chip, but seems like it mounted on PCB not in the direction as on Galaxy S.
There is a define in .config file which have to be set to zero for captivate magnetic sensor orientation:
Code:
CONFIG_INPUT_YAS529_POSITION=0

I tried to build 1.3.0 Semaphore kernel with compass fix for our devise but it did not work. So i fixed 1.2.6 version. The changes i've made:
- Compass fix
- CWM from Semphore 1.3.0 (CWM 6.0.1)
- Built with linaro 20120720 (latest stable for today)

I have tested it all the weekend and had no any problems. The build attached here i compiled this morning because of linaro update. I built only hudgemem configuration cause i use it =) Please, try on your own risk.

What needs to be done to fix the "normal" (1.2.6c) version, the file you attached is "sc"?
.
Samsung Captivate SGH-i896 | ROM: RemICS-JB v3.0.1(Team Remics) | Kernel: Semaphore JB 2.4.5sc | Modem: KG3
Get my complete SGH-i896 Rogers 2.1 stock ROM (removes all traces of AT&T)
Get my complete SGH-i896 Rogers 2.2 stock ROM (removes all traces of AT&T)

Samsung Vibrant SGH-T959 | ROM: Bionix-v 1.3.1 | Kernel: Voodoo | Modem: KB1

Yes, the file i attached is a "slim" version. I hope today i could find some time to build "normal" version.
I also hope Stratosk will use my fix to build 1.3.0 official release.

Smile Semaphore 1.3.0

Guys! I managed to build Semaphore for Captivate 1.3.0 with Compass fix. I found my 1.2.6 build unstable while active 3g connection usage. Don't know what was the problem, but Stratosk fixed some source files, connected with baseband usage in version 1.3.0. I just fixed compass and build it for our device. I've been testing for almost 24 hours, in different modes, downloaded 300 megs with a 3g connection, gig with wifi, tried bluetooth and gps. So, check it out =)

Thanks for this useful info, mate. I will definitely use it.
Though, I can't promise for an ICS version.

No problem, i find 1.3.0 release have all the features most users need. You doing a greate job. Last 5 days i flashed my smartphone at least 20 times and actually tired. Can't imagine how much time you have done that.

I'm flashing with this rate at least for 400 days now. There was days that I flashed my kernel for tests about 50 times in 1 day.
Anyway, thanks again, my friend. Your fix will be included in JB kernel, which will be released very soon.

Did fresh install of slimbean 2.7, flashed 1.2.6sc and won't boot past semaphore screen. Battery pulled, now can't get phone on. Looks like it might need some tweaking..

You're using an ICS Kernel with a JB ROM. You need to use the JellyBean version of Semaphore for it to work.
