Tick tok.... time's a wasting.

Looks the like L7 thread is alive and well with new roots for additional firmware versions. While the L5 is being completely ignored.

This is seriously getting lame. Where is the root?:rolleyes:

Root / Unroot Methods

BELOW IS UNTESTED / UNVERIFIED

Update :
I have never seen anyone bricked their devices on this small rooting/unrooting process but JUST DO NOT MAKE BACKUPS OR RESTORES!

DO AT YOUR OWN RISK

Rooting

1.Download cwm image for your phone from here
2.Place the downloaded CWM zip file on external sd card
3.Flash using stock recovery
4.Choose one root method from this link and try rooting

No luck :(

Ok then..thanks..I''l try this if I got a chance this weekend and let you know..

Well, it doesn't work for me...I press volume up+home button+power to get into recovery mode and a warning screen comes up with an image, saying to not connect any cable to the phone. And it stays that way, doesn't go any further.
Anyone tried this?

Edit: Here's the proof of root. I can't make it an image, nor a link, since I'm new, but you can check it out anyway., just delete the "*" htt*p:*//*goo*.g*l/lI5rb

The .bat file opened in command prompt, and gave me a load of "permission denied" errors... anyone else had any luck? it didn't even install superuser.

I just saw your video, and it's perfect :) :good:

You should try to attach the video here in the forum, or at least copy the text file where you describe all the process using the IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.apk
:D

And again... finally after weeks of searching and trying... LG L5 rooted!

We should start a vote for a new area for a thread on the top so people can find the tutorial easier and sorry I was up all night figuring out how to root it and then on top of that doing the video here it is I'm up now after only having 2 hours of sleep but thats besides the point. I'm going to post the video if anyone needs the actual .txt file steps I have them saved I'll post a download link for them in the YouTube description.
Cheers

Alright I'm back at my PC so now imma try this out. Fingers crossed!

Good luck its really not that hard I think its the easiest root method out there right now I wish I knew about this xda site a while ago I used to custom port root all my other devices but this one was 12 easy steps its actually less but to fully understand it I did a step by step tutorial cheers

Not sure if it's just me, but this root method seems to completely bork bluetooth. I can't turn it on, using settings then settings force closes, and trying to turn it on using the status bar toggles force closes SystemUI... hmm

    [GUIDE] Flash Stock Firmware

I am not sure if this has been posted before here.
But I am posting, do comment if you find it helpful.

Credit goes to the website: hackmyandroid.com

    Steps:

    1. Download LG Optimus l5 USB Driver for Windows | Mac.

    2. Download official LG Optimus l5 stock firmware from this page. The file would be a .kdz file. Download the appropriate firmware according to your network provider and country.

    3. Download KDZ updater and install it on your computer.

    4. The zip file has a Microsoft XML parser, make sure you run it as an administrator and restart your PC. This will solve the wparam 100 and lparam 6 issue mentioned in a comment below.

    5. The next step is to put your phone into emergency mode. To do this, remove the battery of your phone and re-insert it (don’t turn it on). Press and hold Volume Up button and Volume Down button. While you are pressing the two buttons, press the Power button. So now, you must be pressing all three buttons together.

    6. Your phone will boot into emergency mode and you should see a yellow screen with Emergency mode written on it.
Pick up the USB Cable and connect your phone to the computer via the USB Cable.

    7. Pick up the USB Cable and connect your phone to the computer via the USB Cable.

    8. Run KDZ updater as Administrator.

    9. Choose the following options in KDZ Updater: Type: 3GQCT Phone Mode: DIAG and KDZ file is the one you downloaded in step 3. See the image below,

    Root-LG-P350-LG-Update.png

    10. Re-check with the image above and ensure that you have the appropriate settings on the KDZ updater.

    11. click on “Launch Software Update” button.

    12. This process is usually long. It take quite a long time for the firmware to be flashed on your phone.

    13. If everything goes well, you will see “Finished” written in the log screen and your phone will change to switched off mode from Emergency mode.

    14. The next time you turn it on, your phone will take a lot of time to reboot. Stay Cool! its normal.

The backup is located in your internal sdcard if you wanna flash it again execute the comand in terminal emulator:
    dd if=/sdcard/bootloader_backup.bin of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5
