The program Htc Sync in terms of MACs is a misbehaving app.
Once run it leaves a status of running, even after having being quit.
It's impossible to regular delete / drag to trash, the app.
This worked for me without using terminal and unix cmds.
1) rename it. Just to be sure some startup deamon isn't triggering it.
2) restart the Mac.
3) drag the App to the trash.
I'm almost embarrassed to post this, but it wouldn't change it's state from running.
