People should pay attention to your wise words.
+1 here I totally agree
Hi,
Great first post.
People should pay attention to your wise words.
Nice.
So you've finally gone over to the other side...
Flashed from my fingers to your face
Yeah I finally gave completely into the Dark Side
I edited the title of the thread also so you might want to edit it in your sig too, I have already done so with my sig.
Ok,
So I've read a bit ,
and the only down side to cLK is the loss of RAM for us poor EU HD2 users(576>448).
Does that mean less internal memory?or system memory?or what?
Also ,in order to install a ROM which does not support cLK(like Imilka's,my fav ),
would I still install that the old way in recovery? i.e. ad recovery>wipe data ,cache and dalvik>install from sd card?
Please advise
This guide was insanely helpful and informative. i did read through the whole thing but there were a few things i'd like to ask/talk to you about
from all of my previous looking, it seemed like everyone was saying MAGLDR is the way to go, but cLk is looking better now due to the whole charging while turned off thing.
what method of installation would you suggest?
also i'm not sure if i'm in any position to make suggestions to the guide with me being new and whatnot, but a list comparing the 2 main install methods(cLK and MAGLDR) would be fairly useful. because i still dont fully know the difference other than cLk will let you charge your device if you let the battery die completely
Hi,
I'm still not decided on switching to clk...
When I read this:
http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=13624719&postcount=1825
it did not inspire me with confidence.
Have you had any experience of extra battery consumption with clk?
Ok,
Usage is the main battery drain.
If you power your phone down and lock it in a cupboard, you would probably get two weeks out of one charge.
alright, well while i may be a noob to phone hacking, i've done a share of usind DOS and cmd prompts so i think i'll try cLkYou are right to ask these questions actually, and a list is a good idea I will have to think about doing that.
Most people use MAGLDR because it is so much easier to use, plus it was the first custom bootloader to come out for the HD2 that can boot different OS's. MAGLDR is way more noob friendly and easier to understand how to use. MAGLDR uses RMET for it's data connection which is very stable, cLK uses PPP for it's data connection. But personaly I use cLK now and I don't really notice any difference in my data connection then when I used MAGLDR. Also MAGLDR has allot more options and functions as you can see from my guide. You see MAGLDR was made to be able to boot multiple OS's from NAND and to be able to boot Android from SD card. So it had to incorporate allot of stuff in to it.
CLK is just for booting Android from NAND and not any other OS. The thing is in my opinion, if you just want to run Android from NAND cLK is the right choose as it makes your HD2 as close to a native Android device as it can be. You can do anything with a HD2 using clK to boot Android that you can do with a native Android device. Flash cLK is actually no harder than flashing MAGLDR but flashing Clockwork Mod Recovery is totally different because you have to use actuall SDK/ADB fastboot commands that you have to type in and not just click on a Flash Utility.
So to answer your question, it is really up to you wich custom bootloader you want to go with. But as I said you probably will have no troubles with MAGLDR as it is more noob and user friendly. Follow the parts in my guide about how to flash MAGLDR and then CWM for MAGLDR and you should have Android up and running in no time.
But if you want to go with cLK just follow the part in my guide on how to flash cLK and then the part about how to flash CWM for cLK, also click on the link to the guide by Newman180 under my guide on flashing CWM for cLK. I provided a link here in case you missed it, and click on this link to download the .zip file I made with the Custom RUU already in it in case you missed it being attached at the bottom of post #2.

Veeeeery nice guide bro. I bougt a second hand HD2 a month ago and haven't used WinMo for even 1sec I bought this phone just to use Android.
I'm using MAGLDR, but I think that I'm gonna try CLK tonight.
And btw, I have a total of 411mb RAM now, using MAGLDR with langthang's NDT Ginger Rom v6.0
Could you maybe explain what the MIUI ROM's are?(sorry if it's a dumb question, haha, to me it looks like it's only skin difference?)
Now this does not say much to non-technically knowledgeable people. What I think this is for is to create a partition on the SD card for apps to SD for Android, or to create a partition on the SD card to be able to run Android from SD card. If I am wrong please someone let me know and I will change this.DumpUDtoSD" - dumps asize partition to SD card. BUGGY, SLOW and not tested. Don't use it.
Maybe you should add radio info also.
Well more in depth I mean. xD
Wow, this is really a useful and practical guide or reference to help users..
I will put in in my signature for easy reference...
Thanks and cheers
