with changes to layout in status bar, id imagine that would further bork themes, yeah

By the way, MMS messages won't send in the last few builds. I can receive them just fine, though!

I haven't had any problems with mms either they work for me .I use the stock miui messaging app also.

yeah seems sporadic in how it effects each user...aerovan has updated his cm9 builds though and 2.3.23 will be the last version based off of 3-13 anyway, so hopefully whatever he fixed will translate over

Just so all of you know, the qualcomm driver patch posted a few pages back (search thread for it) fixes all the glitches completely, and makes this ROM as smooth as gingerbread as far as I can tell. Boot into recovery, mount system for good measure, and flash :)

Thanks again nitsuj/justin -_-

Added FLAC support thanks for the addition!

Sent from my vivow using XDA App

edit: legit, wont boot. idk why, or how, or what. downloaded twice because i didnt believe it the first time. check sum because i thought i lost my mind. CWM 5.0.2.0 wiped everything, and then wiped everything. Downloaded, just like any other ROM. wont go past my splash screen, idk?

2nd edit: hopefully this isnt my downfall of destroying my phone...now no miui roms will boot, about to check to see if one of my backups boot...

3rd edit(feel like this isnt good) nothing will boot, no new downloaded rom will boot as of 2 tries, only running on a backup (thankfully) because i have to have a working phone for a little bit tomorrow..i'll post back if anything happens...

depending upon recovery (since its based upon aerovan's 3-13 with similar issues) it may be necessary to mount /system before flashing rom

I flashed this a few days ago and was very impressed by it! However, I found it to really laggy (I'm guessing it's because it's ICS and we don't have source). So my question is when/if we get source, will it increase the speed of this ROM?

i never found it to be laggy at all....maybe not as response as cm7 or something but it performed well

but all ics aosp would benefit from ics source for 3.xx kernels and fixes, yes

If your using aeroevans cm9 Kang as a base, if you used the 3-29 or 30 builds, wouldn't you have GSM functionality then? I don't know if you are or not though and theoretically if you did the same for open sense again wouldn't that give you GSM?

i honestly dont have much of an idea as to what needs to be added for gsm compatibility as I've never looked into much or attmpted it on my own

iirc though i think at the least settings/phone/and possibly framework has to be modded

you could open up one of the older mikrunny patches or touchpro's and see whats inside the zip to get an idea though im sure

It was just a theory lol. I figured if your rom was based off one that has it working you would have no need to mess with it

based off is kind of a loose term

since miui is cm-based, to port it to your particular device you need the bins/libs from the aosp for your phone, not the base miui rom

essentially you just take the cm9 (or whatever) rom and replace /system/app and /framework with miui ones, and add a few lines to build.prop, change some permissions, and add extra need libs

however, you need to really hack up several jars to get to rom functional though, its not just a copy/paste deal (well for some phones im sure it would be)

so any changes to cm source for say gsm/crt anis/voice search etc has to be smali hacked into the respective apk/jar....this isnt particularly easy and the only way to do it (since java source cant be translated easily) is to decompile and diff the files you think or know to be affected

since i cant always track down fixes (or all of the fixes) thats why say cm has working voice search and miui doesnt...other times i can (like fixing soft key lights in android.policy) its hit or miss for me

I like MIUI-Au's guidelines, so I'm going to repost them

    Bug-Reporting Guidelines

Consider the following “Big Five” statements:

    • I have been able to Reproduce this bug.
    • I have attempted a Full Wipe and Re-Flash.
    • I have checked and can confirm that this bug has not already been reported.
    • I have read the ENTIRE post and followed it’s instructions TO-THE-’T‘ (and still experience this bug....and IT IS NOT A NOTED BUG IN THE OP!!!!!!!!).
    • I have NOT restored anything from a GingerBread Backup.
    • DO NOT post a bug-report if any of them are FALSE.

When posting a bug-report, format is at follows:
    1. (One sentence description of bug).
    2. Affirm that the “Big Five” statements are true.
    3. Instructions for reproducing the bug.
    4. a LOGCAT output for the FATAL EXCEPTION (if the bug is an app crash or reboot), or ‘df’ output (if the bug relates to low free storage space). To get the output, run “adb logcat > pathtotextfile” or “adb shell df > pathtotextfile” as appropriate.
    5. Any other useful information.
Bug reports which do not follow the above procedure do not help me or the Incredible 2 community at all! (ok I changed that a bit)
    6. Please see a sample bug report (not real)

Issue: Music force closes when skipping tracks
    Wiped data and reflashed: yes
    Can be reproduced: yes
Logcat: (dropbox or whatever link to .txt file containing logcat) [please verify that in the logcat the actual error/force close is contained]

    MIUIusGlobe.png

Donations are ALWAYS appreciated, but NEVER expected! (I do put them to good use in saving for new devices though and quasi justifying to my wife the time i spend on this stuff lol) I like what I do, and just hitting thanks makes me feel its worth continuing :)

    FAQ

Q: Will you be continuing work on this beyond this (hopefully successful) attempt...and can we expect MIUI4 weekly? *5.19.12
A: Yes, I've become quite the fan of MIUI 4 since I began porting it! Even when I get a new phone, I will still keep my inc2 to port miui (might need help with logcats and such though for data).

Q: Why doesn't (insert issue) work?!?!?!?!
A: Well it could be 1) my fault as I haven't gotten it working yet 2) an issue introduced by a particular weekly build of MIUI 3) it doesnt work in vivow aosp ics yet

Q: How can I help out?
A: Short of taking over for me, testing and bugreporting is the biggest help you can give :) ....however anyone interested in contributing or working with me on it and has experience with making roms and smali editing, lmk.

Q: How do I activate wake on volume keys? *2.21.12
    A: settings->hardware keys->Volume Rocker Wake
    (thanks shredder47)

Q: How do I enable long-press to kill app? *3.1612
A: settings->"p" button -> long-press back button to kill apps

Q: How do I switch to the new phone answer UI in 2.2.24?
    A: dialer->settings->answer gesture->horizontal sliding

Q: I cant download apps over 1mb from the play store, whats up?
    A: tools folder->downloads->menu->settings->uncheck size limit

working on 2.2.24 now....its a slower process as im porting directly from the nexus s rather than an existing htc port (au)

i was considering just waiting for one of the other miui.us guys to port it to an htc sense device, but thats not sustainable week in week out....so hopefully its just the initial port that goes slower

i am still using bits and pieces from au as i see fit, but the major parts will always need to be miui.us :)

    for those who might care

ive decided to stop supporting (directly) miui.us miui for the inc2

i know i had promised to get back to it and fix stuff up, but i really just dont have the time/desire to continue it anymore

i prefer working on sense rom projects anyway, and split between multiple roms on multiple devices, and a work schedule that allows for several less hours weekly for android time....you get the picture

ive enjoyed working on miui, and was thrilled to get it working (ics version) on our device with no experience with it back in february

there is continued to development on miui still for the inc2 (though its sense based, and no miui toolbox...but its more than enough for those miui flashholics im sure :) )

thanks for all the support along the way as i worked/learned on it along the way :highfive:
