Nordic .587 ftf, will it work?

So, your for MT15i_4.1.B.0.587 ftf link is global, I also downloaded the Nordic one from Madfysh's thread. Are both the same, can use either one?


Thanks bro, I'm a complete noob, my MT15 is my first android device. Been reading and searching for days now in this forum, but you really open my eyes :D

Oh, another thing, my warranty expired yesterday, that means no harm done anymore if I unlock my bootloader using official method, right?

dint quite get you..cwd?? if u wanna flash custom kernels you need to unlock ur bootloader.

This is another root method.. keep Going Bro

.626 Firmware on Neo L

Thanks to LoneWanderer for making this super simple guide for rooting Neo L. Question though, Im a noob and I was just wondering since unfortunately I have firmware .626... Any idea when .626 firmware will be added to the list for Neo L? Or can I downgrade back to .587 safely so I can finally root my Neo L? Thanks in advance for anyone's answer.:)

Btw you can downgrade to. 587 and keep root!

problem wiz step 1 .. where is the pic of flashtool setting b4 flashing ... when i power of and hold bk button then plug usb flash tool didnt recognize my fone .. it keeping telling me install driver and iam already istalled it ​

.626fw will be added in 2-3 days.. and yes you can downgrade back to .587 safely in order to root but if you upgrade u'll have to root again..i've already mentioned why staying on .587 is better..but its your call :)

the pic is already ther..:confused:
try to reinstall drivers..and cud you also post the log..and also mention the steps u did..follow the guide perfectly..missing even a single step will cause errors..
and please dont use bold text..its like your shouting :p

Thank u so much, i used to read about rooting and flashing even before i purchased my Neo V, but never got the guts to go ahead..
but after going thru this detailed guide, i finally made up my mind and now i have a rooted my Neo V
thanx again! :)

i have w question plz ... the last time i upgrated 2 ICS i have a lot of touch problems ... when i root on ics is there any problem in touch specially wiz games ?

    Hey people..this is a simple step by step guide for flashing, rooting and installing CWM..it might look lengthy but thats only because i've mentioned evry step indetail..Full HD :p

    This is a semi-original work..I have put together what is already present in a simple manner so that new members can easily understand, but I did put in a lot of time into making this guide. I just wanted to have everything in one place so its easier for everyone.
    I do not mean to steal anybodys work..

    -- A) If this is your first time flashing(Flashtool)..then you can save your original CDF number incase u wanna go back to your original firmware,

    A.No. You can only make a backup of the latest firmware for your phone.(for your SI)​

    STEP 1 ---------- FLASHING THE FIRMWARE

    Latest SONY ICS Firmware will be flashed... 4.0.4 ICS 4.1.B.0.587​

    Note: If u are already running the latest firmware .587 or if this update is available officially,then skip Step 1 and move on to Step 2
    This will erase evrything from the phone..so Please make a Backup of contacts,messages etc..


    Requirements


    1. Flashtool (0.9.8.0)

    After downloading and unzipping..please install in C:/ Drive​


    2. 4.0.4 ICS 4.1.B.0.587(FTF file)



    If it is a zip or rar file..extract to get an FTF file..

    1. You haven't given the FTF file for my region/country..Is it ok for me to flash FTF file of another region/country??
    A. Yes..Its fine..Go ahead.​


    Procedure

    I. Copy .ftf file to C:/ > Flashtool > Firmwares >

    II. Install drivers(ADB) Goto C:/ > Flashtool >drivers and click on Flashtool-drivers.exe

    III.Open Flashtool C:/ > Flashtool and right click on FlashTool.exe(32 bit) or FlashTool64.exe(64 bit) and "run as administrator"

    IV. In your phone..
    Select MSC mode..Goto Xperia>Connectivity>USB connection mode
    Select Unknown sources..in Security
    Select USB debugging..in Developer options..
    Select Stay awake..if u want..​

    V.Connect your phone and check if it recognises your device

    VI. Click on the flash icon(top left) and select Flashmode..

    VII.Select the firmware and on the right side mark these (see pic)..click ok

    Now flashtool will prepare the files for flashing and it will ask you to connect the phone in flashmode..ie
    Unplug......Power Off.....Hold back button....Insert USB..

    After flashing is complete..disconnect and restart(it will take sometime..so be patient)​


    Step One Complete :good: ..YAY

    STEP 2 ----------- ROOTING

    Your phone will now be rooted​

    A. No..u cannot. We can root only through .562 kernel

    2.I have Neo(MT15i)..is it ok for me to flash .562 kernel of MT11i(NeoV) ??
    A. Yes. Its perfectly fine. Dont worry if u get any errors. Continue with the procedure.​


    Procedure

    A. Flashing .562 kernel

    I. In your phone..
    Select MSC mode..Goto Xperia>Connectivity>USB connection mode
    Select Unknown sources..in Security
    Select USB debugging..in Developer options..
    Select Stay awake..if u want..​

    II. Copy the .562 and .587 kernel ftf files to C:/ > Flashtool > Firmwares >

    III.Install drivers(ADB) (Skip this if u have done it already) Goto C:/ > Flashtool >drivers and click on Flashtool-drivers.exe

    IV. Open Flashtool C:/ > Flashtool and right click on FlashTool.exe(32 bit) or FlashTool64.exe(64 bit) and "run as administrator"

    V.Connect your phone and check if it recognises your device

    VI. Click on the flash icon(top left) and select Flashmode..

    VII. Now select the kernel .562, Select "No Final Verification" and click ok

    Now flashtool will prepare the files for flashing and it will ask you to connect the phone in flashmode..ie
    Unplug......Power Off.....Hold back button....Insert USB..

    After flashing is complete..disconnect and restart(it will take sometime..so be patient)​



    NOW YOU ARE READY TO ROOT


    B. Rooting

    VIII. Close Flashtool (disable antivirus)

    IX. In your phone..
    Select MSC mode..Goto Xperia>Connectivity>USB connection mode
    Select Unknown sources..in Security
    Select USB debugging..in Developer options..
    Select Stay awake..if u want..​

    X. Now we need the rootkit..go to the folder where you have extracted and double click "runme.bat"

    Follow onscreen instructions, the phone will boot several times..once the script says all done
    Now check your phone if superuser is installed..this means its rooted

    NOW WE NEED TO FLASH BACK .587 KERNEL


    C. Flashing .587 kernel

    Follow the same steps as mentioned in
    "A. Flashing .562 kernel" --- except in Step VII..choose .587 kernel(inplace of .562 kernel) and continue

    After flashing is complete..disconnect and restart(it will take sometime..so be patient)​


    Step Two Complete :good: ..Now u have .587 firmware with .587 kernel and rooted

    STEP 3 ------- CWM Recovery​

    This is the easiest step of them all..

    Requirements

    1. Rooted .587
    2. x-Parts by pvyParts

    Download from playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler&feature=search_result#?t=W10.​

    Procedure

    I. Install x-Parts on your phone and start it..Grant superuser permission

    II. Goto the 3rd tab "INSTALLS" and install CWM..DONE

    2.How do i get into recovery(CWM 5.5.0.4)??
    A. There are two ways --
    a) Open x-Parts..TOOLS..Reboot to Recovery.. (or)
    b)Switch off your phone..power on and keep tapping the screen when you see the Sony logo and blue LED..​

    3.Touch doesnt work in CWM..how to use it??
    A.
    Volume Up button -- Scroll Up
    Volume Down button -- Scroll Down

    4.I flashed a custom rom and now I cant access recovery..what to do??
    A.This will happen if u have a locked bootloader(ie.stock kernel)..everytime u flash a rom..u need to install CWM again..​

    Note : There are four firmwares for NeoL .479, .587, .626 and .631(latest) but the latest firmware for Neo/V is .587 so almost all the roms/mods/themes are based on .587..so i suggest you guys to upgrade to .587 and stay on it..atleast for now..
    You can use this guide for rooting all four firmwares .479, .587, .626 and .631.
    From now on i'll be referring to your 'Current Firmware' as 'CF'

    Please Follow This Guide At Your Known Risk..I havent tested it..but people have successfully rooted using this guide

    Unplug......Power Off.....Hold back button....Insert USB..

    Now your heart will skip a beat :p as your phone will only vibrate(screen wont turn on)..but u can still use USB debugging so dont worry and carry on with the procedure​



    NOW YOU ARE READY TO ROOT


    B. Rooting

    VIII. Close Flashtool (disable antivirus)

    IX. Now we need the rootkit..go to the folder where you have extracted and double click "runme.bat"

    C. Flashing CF kernel

    I. Copy the CF kernel ftf file to C:/ > Flashtool > Firmwares >

    II.Install drivers(ADB) (Skip this if u have done it already) Goto C:/ > Flashtool >drivers and click on Flashtool-drivers.exe and choose Arc/Neo/Play option.

    III. Open Flashtool C:/ > Flashtool and right click on FlashTool.exe(32 bit) or FlashTool64.exe(64 bit) and "run as administrator"

    IV. Click on the flash icon(top left) and select Flashmode..

    2.How do i get into recovery(CWM 5.5.0.4)??
    A. There are two ways --

    a)Switch off your phone..power on and keep pressing the volume down button(as in press..release..press..release :p) when you see the Sony logo and blue LED. (or)
    b) Install xParts from PlayStore.. Goto..TOOLS..Reboot to Recovery..​

    3.Touch doesnt work in CWM..how to use it??
    A.
    Volume Up button -- Scroll Up
    Volume Down button -- Scroll Down
    Menu button -- To Select an Option
    Back Button -- To go Back to previous menu​

    4.I flashed a custom rom and now I cant access recovery..what to do??
    A.This will happen if u have a locked bootloader(ie.stock kernel)..everytime u flash a rom..u need to install CWM again..​

    Advantages of Unlocking Bootloader

    1. All roms for your phone become available.
    2. Custom Kernels.
    3. Most Custom kernels have built in CWM.
    4. Overclocking​


    Locked Bootloader FAQs

    1. Can I install custom roms if my bootloader is locked??
    A. Sure you can install custom roms..but not all roms are available for locked bootloaders

    2.Can I install custom kernels??
    A. No. Locked Bootloader means only stock kernels can be flashed.

    3. Can I overclock??
    A. No. Stock kernels cannot be overclocked.

    4. Is unlocking my bootloader dangerous??
    A. Only if you dont follow the instructions for unlocking properly.​


    There are two ways of unlocking..

    1.Sony's Official Method

    Disadvantages
    1. Warranty is void..gone..
    2. You cannot update using PCC or SUES( if you try them..then u'll get a message saying that the software is modified and it wont proceed)
    3. No more DRM(Digital Rights Management)..things like Trackid, music like..etc​

    2.Unofficial Testpoint Method(S1tool)

    This method overcomes all those above mentioned disadvantages but needs some manual labour :p
