Just got my black brushed metal cover from HK, $19 with shipping. Happy with it and haven't seen adverse effects on wifi/gps reception.

Hey, I bought this one:
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B007...ls_o00_s00_i00

7€ with shipping (just national prime) but the brand will be avaiable in other countries, too. before that, I bought (accidnetly) two diffrent one for 12€ each, and they cracked when i attached them. The cheap one works great and the metal plate gives it a great touch...
I can recommend my one

Cases in first link look good. Any first hand reviews of quality here?

This is a common misconception.

Actually because metal conducts heat it would mean the phone is cooler on the inside. The metal dissipates the heat meaning there is less heat energy in the phone and more heat energy on the battery cover.

So don't worry about that, if anything be happy

Thats not a replacement battery cover, Rob, its a clip on case. I've got one of those, had it on a day and binned it. They look good in pictures but not in real life. The "metal" is a thin foil layer glued on the inside of clear plastic. The case is quite tight to fit and scratched my back door (oo-er, missus), hence me reading this thread.

I nearly bought a white Note just so I didnt have that horrid "carbon" (yeah, right) textured back panel, but got the black one (or blue, if you work in Samsung PR dept and are colourblind). I'll try the silver or black metal one now.

So this uses thin plastic for around the edges or it's just strictly a different battery back?
