I'm an Editor for TalkAndroid.com :) And about that kernel, I am only now getting around to it. So you just flashed the generic kernel without modifying any script? Did you have an OC script in place from a previous Motley? I guess I am confused why Jermaine would recommend using Motley's modified script

Yep I flashed without any scripts. I did have the motley kernel modified by Jermaine before and had flashed the scotch bonnet cwm zip from motley's thread. Maybe those init.d files stayed?

I've never checked out Talk Android, but I will right now.:)

I just went and read some of your articles. Good stuff Bro! I had no idea. :)

Roman's build 33 Changelog! I'll get this puppy out Monday or Tuesday. It should be a good one. :)
Roman said:
I know I said we’ll have another Milestone soon, but we feel we’re not quite ready yet, we want MIlestone 5 to be exceptionally stable. We’re also on a feature freeze from this point on, until we release Milestone 5. Enjoy!

bug fixes
- Bluetooth: Fixed memory leak and file handles leak
- Nav bar & tablet status bar FCs fixed
- Fixed some init.d scripts not running due to lack of bash
- Changing brightness by sliding on the top of the statusbar (if enabled) shouldn’t FC anymore
- Fixed Data toggle not updating properly
- Torch should be acting normally again
- ROM Control: Fixed scrolling cache not setting properly
- Weather will refresh whenever SystemUI starts instead of when the phone boots (so if it gets restarted, it should fetch weather again, it didn’t before)
- Lockscrens: Added lockscreen wallpapers to pin & pattern unlock screens
- Settings: fixed link mute states always being checked

supersonic: Updated files (thanks to evervolv), should boot! I’ve also included a “camera hack” so it should work, Video camera will FC, so will panorama mode. It is what it is :)

new features
- Added another ROM Control shortcut that opens ROM Control
- Added ability to translate weather conditions (only German is translated for now I think)
- Mms: added ability to strip unicode (CM)
- Mms: added emoji icons (CM)
- Mms: added quick emoji button to left of input (option you must enable)
- Added warnings to fast charge (will notify you if it’s enabled on boot)
- Hide navbar feature for tablets
- More music players supported for AVRCP 1.3

What's your site?

Did you ever flash that generic kernel from Motley? I flashed it this morning and it defaulted to 1800 without messing with scripts. Rom control performance settings also seem to control it fine.

Glad to see someone running the generic kernel with ROM Control. I was wondering how many had seen that post and gave it a run! I will release the official version soon. Let me now if you have any feedback. I can give you a slightly newer version if you are interested in testing it out.

Let me know if you try it out. Since Jermaine mostly likely has a similar script for the stock kernel at boot to set these parameters, this is likely why it works without any extra scripts.

Edit: here is the new version I mentioned if you want to give it a try. I would like to release, but I haven't gotten much feedback from others yet.

Sorry for my absence lately dudes! I finally got a round to flashing the generic kernel (one you just posted Motley) and the first time ROM control crashed when trying to change CPU speed. I rebooted into recovery, wiped cache and dalvik and all went great afterward! No scripts or anything. I am able to change CPU speed in ROM control now and have verified with CPU Spy and Set CPU. Thanks a ton Motley and Jermaine!! I will continue to monitor and report back. Motley, anything you want me to check out?

I'll give this new one a try. I had been running your previous generic kernel build since the day you posted it, with no problems to speak of.

Flashing now. Where should I post feedback on the generic kernel? I don't want to sidetrack Jermaine's thread.

Sounds good. At the risk of sounding like a whore, remember that my beta testing skills are at your service. :D

Hey, weren't you supposed to be drunk by now and spending some quality time with someone?

Motley, I'm running the kernel you posted at the top of this page. I've turned it down to 1.6 via from control just to try it. Looking very good so far.

I grabbed this kernel as well and my prime is running smooth so far.
On a different note
I am having a problem with being able to add navigation bar buttons. Any one else have this problem.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Yes, please give any additional feedback in my kernel thread so we don't junk up Jermaine's thread:eek:. Just reference the "generic" kernel. I should be releasing soon as reports have been good all around thus far.

Has anyone else noticed that the volume on recordings is really quiet when using the video camera? I just noticed it today when using the video cam. I did not have this problem with v1, and have recordings from this version that sound great. The problem is definitely there for v1.12 (Cornerstone and regular) and v1.2. I am certain that this is not a hardware problem as I restored one of my stock based nandroids and the volume on recordings works perfectly. Is there a setting somewhere that I have missed to increase the volume on the microphone or is this a bug?

Wisely stayed out of b32, waiting for the TF201 version of b33 to come out. :)

Happy with Virtuous Prime right now, but missing the AOKP features.

(I'm actually surprised this place isn't as busy as other tablet forums (Tab 10.1 <- my previous tab, or tf101).

Keep it up jermaine, you're pretty much singlehandedly keeping this device's development section alive! :D

Cool story bro...

Also, while it's true Jermaine is killing it...there are a couple of awesome ROMs for our Primes here, made by a couple of great devs. ATGAdmin, MasterZen,etc...it's a community man, not one person.

And yes, I'm running AOKP right now :D

b33 is out for other devices now but there is a feature hiatus so no more new features til milestone 5. Personally, i refrained from b32 and I'm on cornerstone which is much better albeit less stable. Btw, b33 fixes the sysui bug on tabs fyi.

I bet he didn't understood what you meant.

You're right , devs are very few here compared to many other Android devices, it's not an insult to point this out. And so forum activity is lower too.

That's a good reason to cherish them !

SystemUI still FCs as soon as you open Facebook (or any app that requires a legacy menu button) on b33. :( I'm not happy with this build. I'm going to try to patch it myself until TeamKang fixes it completely.

GPL Kernel source: This ROM uses the Asus stock V9.4.2.21 kernel (unmodified) and the sources may be downloaded from here: http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Eee+Pad+Transformer+P rime+TF201&p=20&s=16

*** Disclaimer: I, nor TeamKang, nor anyone but YOU is responsible for what you flash or do to your tablet!

This is based on TeamKang's AOKP - Build 33 (Android 4.0.4).

Thanks to Romanbb and TeamKang for putting together this awesome rom.
Thanks to the CyanogenMod team for all they do.
Thanks to BuzzBumbleBee for the initial device tree for the Prime (I made a lot of changes to this)

I hope I didn't forget anyone but if I did, PM me and I'll add you.

I have added in a few of the Asus widgets and applications like:

Check out the ROM Feature list here.

Check out the comprehensive FAQ by brainfire!

    Bugs:
    • BT tether seems to only work for the web browser
    • 2 IME icons in the notification bar:
      • Settings-->Rom Control-->General-->Uncheck Show IME and reboot.
    • No Super IPS mode (See dalingrin's quote below)
    All this bickering about IPS+....
Its a gimmick, folks. All Asus does is artificially limit the backlight if IPS+ is disabled.
AOKP and CM9 already support all the same brightness levels and "IPS+" that stock has. The only difference is we don't limit the brightness slider. In other words, if you move the brightness slider all the way to the right in CM9 or AOKP then it is exactly the same as turning on IPS+ and moving the slider all the way to the right in stock. There's no special mode or anything like that, the panel is just especially bright.
Okay, here's the deal on some of the Asus apps (FileManager2.apk, MyZine.apk, etc). They're looking for a method in the Asus stock rom that is not there: android.os.Environment.getEpadInternalStoragePubli cDirectory

I'm not sure how I'll be able to get around this.

    installation-1.png
    1. Make sure you're on the latest TWRP or CWM recovery
    2. MAKE A NANDROID
    3. wipe data/factory reset in recovery
    4. flash ROM
    5. flash Gapps
    6. reboot
    7. If you're installing a new build without wiping, you STILL need to reflash gapps right after flashing the build!!!

On a side note: Folks, please don't PM me questions like "how do I flash this?" or "help! It won't boot!". Those questions belong in this thread. That allows other people to help you and keeps me from having to answer the same question repeatedly. My PMs are for development questions and sharing as well as for contacting testers.

    Thanks for understanding.

I'll have to update the OP and changelogs tomorrow but basically this is it:

    Working:
    --------------------

    • Android 4.0.4 (First for the Prime!)
    • Face Unlock
    • Based on AOKP build 29
    • Wifi
    • BT (Completely)
    • Keyboard Dock Soft keys
    • Lid Close = Sleep
    • Lid Open = Wake
    • microSD
    • Full sized SD
    • USB storage and devices
    • YouTube is baked in
    • Storage changed from being in /mnt folder to /Removable folder
    • Motley's 1.8GHz kernel (1.6GHz or mode 3 by default, change mode in /etc/init.d/cpu_overclock for faster: 4 = 1.7, 5 = 1.8)
    • NTFS
    • Logitech Gamepad support
    • I really don't care about GPS since Asus doesn't :)
    • More I probably forgot....

    Not Working:
    --------------------------

NTFS (Should be an easy fix. I'll release a v1.01 if need be)
2 IME icons in tray. Settings-->Rom Control-->General-->Uncheck Show IME and reboot.

You asked, I listened and I answered. I made this rom my biotch!

    Happy Good Friday!
