I also tried to get into recovery mode but that combination of buttons doesn't seem to work either.
Please help. I'm desperate to get it working again
I have a t-mobile Samsung s2 model: SGH-T989
Go to my profile and look at my posts, I wrote a guide on how to fix this problem, that screen "firmware encounters an issue" that is download mode, go to that screen, find team win recovery project tar.file and use Odin to flash the recovery, after that u should be ablt to boot to recovery, flash the ROM of ur choice so u have one to boot into, from there ur device will be fine, I can boot it up and use Odin to go back stock or keep it custom, if u need more help pm me and I'll walk u through it...
