I have an old ATT Samsung Captivate that I can use the IMEI from, but if I use that will they setup my account without LTE? I've also heard that ATT does an IMEI scan every now and again and if they detect a device that isn't in their system it gets zapped and wont work any longer. Any truth to this? Maybe AIO is the better choice? Help!
From what I understand, the only thing they use the IMEI for is to determine a phone's capabilities. While using my N4, I went to their store, got an LTE capable phone, wrote down it's IMEI number, and called AT&T and told them that was my phone so they'd put me on an LTE plan.
But since the N5 is LTE ready, why wouldn't you give them the N5's IMEI?
