[Q] New to Android

I have the Huawei S7-303u Springboard with 4.0.3 on it.
I had an iPhone which I jailbroke but I'm new to Android and rooting.

I want to root it and put this latest version of Android 4.4.2 CM 11 but I don't want to lose ANY of the functionality that it has now.

Is there anything that isn't working in the release?

And could anyone direct me to detailed instructions on how I can backup ALL of my apps, data and settings and restore them to the new firmware?

I tried cm11 20140118 version, wifi did not work (no mac address).

Do you know if there is a version higher than ICS where EVERYTHING works on it?

CM 10.1 is the ROM that i´ve tried that everything works!

Will the instruction process that is listed there let me save my downloaded apps and program/system settings
and restore them on the upgraded system/firmware/os?

That's my second biggest concern after losing functionality/settings.

One other thing that concerns me before I root it besides the other stuff is.....

I have an iPhone 3G which I jailbroke (which I understand is pretty much the same thing as rooting)
and although everything worked afterwards my GPS in it had dismal performance compared to stock.
It worked only about 30% as well as it did before I jailbroke it.
