It would if it could run successfully, but it won't because the ota will likely fail if you have a different kernel and thus not install anything at all.
That is with 90% of the OTAs that are patch format. For some major upgrades they ship the OTA as a complete upgrade, in which case it would overwrite your existing kernel.
