There are couples wifi tethering apps on the market that required no root, you should check them out.

And I can not find anything how to enable the recovery mode anywhere.
To get into recovery from a powered off state, hold VolUp+Home+Pwr until the recovery pops up. There's not much you can do from the stock recovery though, unless you have signed stock images. From what I've read, the CWM-based recovery imnuts built for the Charge does not work correctly with the Aviator, so that'd be a no go.

There's also download mode that you get to by powering down, and then holding VolDown while plugging in USB. That mode is for flashing files via Odin, but thus far, I haven't seen anything available for the Aviator.

It would help the situation on the Aviator immensely to get a leak/release of a full stock Odin restore image, and further helped by getting the stock PIT file. At that point, at least it would be almost impossible to brick.
My HTC Rezound Development:
CounterShrike (Heavily modified CM9 - Aroma Installer) - PAC-Man (CM10/AOKP/Paranoid Android hybrid) - Ermahgerd Kernel (ICS/JB AOSP kernel)

My smartphone history: iPhone (Retired) - iPhone 3G (Retired) - iPhone 3GS (Retired) - Samsung Droid Charge (Retired) - HTC Rezound (Dev phone) - Samsung Galaxy Note II (Current)

All of my work is open source: My Github
Donations are never expected, but always appreciated.

I tried that key combo plus many others for close to two hours and the only one that was working was the download mode. Makes me wonder why it would not enter recovery. I just tried it on the new one and it went right in. Hmmmm...... I guess a little more tinkering and playing with stuff..... Now I wish I knew where to start by building a custom ROM

Any word on odin files yet? I liked my mesmerize fine but the charging jack gave out and the stock experience on this phone is awful. The main thing is getting root to get rid of the bloat and changing minfree settings. This device would be bearable then.
