We can accept all types of excuses for Advts on XDA. No issues. But Ugly images like this are not welcomed. Sometimes family members are around and we feel embarrassed if such things show up on screen.

After this complaint in other sub-forum, some friends suggested me ADBLOCK addon for firefox. Now I am not seeing even good advertisements.

XDA moderators. Now think over it. Such advertisements will result in complete boycott of XDA advts. Then whats the use of showing them?

Hope you get some lesson from this.

Yeah I definately agree with this.
Even worse, sometimes (like right now) there are ads with sound playing in background, so everytime i open a tab (or multiple tabs) sound is being played. I disabled AdBlock as I want to support websites, but this enough and I will blacklist XDA (and deviantart) with AdBlock.
You should use a different advertisment service, there are enough with direct control of the content displayed!

I agree. If XDA is aware of their ad issues but is doing nothing about it, that's almost malicious in and of itself.

AD sounds can not be muted anymore, THIS IS INSANE!!!

Every time you press "MUTE" it mutes it only until the current AD is finished, then the sound returns upon the playback of the next AD.

THIS IS INSANE!!!

I dont' believe in AD BLOCKERS to support this website, but if this isn't fixed this week, then SCREW XDA

Time for ADBLOCKER

Just use an adblocker and be done with it guys.
I just disabled mine to see how bad it is today and in the last 2 minutes there were 3 flashing and dancing "You just won an iphone" ad.
Lets see how long i can go without enabling it again.

Use adblocker. Why support XDA's advertising initiative if they have spammy malicious ads? Support them by using the forums.

I have been having trouble with these video ads as well.
I use my PC as a media machine, I will be watching TV or a movie and then all of a sudden some ad from this site will start talking... VERY intrusive.

Also this toe fungus ad, is really bothering me, it is disgusting and follows you no matter where you scroll... it's awful!!!!!!!

I've gotten a few autoplay video ads in the past few weeks but inevitably I have a bunch of tabs open and don't have the patience to hunt down the offending ad and take a screenshot. Usually I just head straight to Task Manager and kill Flash Player. However I'll try and remember to actually find out what it is next time :)

There is always the XDA app - but I do agree the site at times can be full of apps!

Okay I found the offending autoplay ad - it's for Air Wick car filters/fresheners and it loaded to the right side of the top of a thread page. I was going to take a screenshot but accidentally hit the wrong key and lost the ad.

I gave up and started using Ad-Block. The scammy ads, the flashing dancing ads, the infuriating autoplay video ads, the disgusting toe nail fungus ad, just too much. The admins have shown they don't give a damn, so I feel I had no choice.

I'm about to do the same. I can tolerate ads, but when they begin auto-playing and I can't even figure out in what tab - this pretty much is an automatic blacklisting of the site. WTF, xda??

Same here. I never used Ad-Block on my PC before, but these autoplay ads were getting on my nerves, so I downloaded this addon and added all my favourite websites to the whitelist, except XDA.
Please use appropriate ads.

The internet is full of advertisments and let's face it, almost every site that has an ounce of traffic uses ad revenue. The intention of xda is not to burden its members with ads that distract from the user experience. With that being said, if you have a problematic ad, please take a screenshot of the ad and post here so admin can take care of it. right now, that is the solution in place.

Thanks for your help in keeping XDA "intrusive ad free".

+1 Im annoyed with these redirected fake sites and sites that auto start downloading mobogenie apk

Its Going To Be LEGEND--Wait For it--DARY!-Barney Stinson(How I Met Your Mother)

+2 Avast is now blocking the entire xda site whenever these adds pop up.

Is this forum a ship with no captain, this has been going on for nearly a week, do the owners not care at all?

    time to do something

So tonight I drop by and am confronted with an ad that obscures a large portion of the bottom screen. It is inescapable and makes the site unreadable so I click it in the hope that it goes away after the obligatory popup... no such luck. It remains on the page. I go to scroll the page and trigger another ad on the right hand side. Christ almighty, can xda please accept some responsibility for the general usability of the site? Right now it's not happening and the site is borderline stupid to use. Ive been around a long time here and have heard every argument about ads and their role in modern development... I get it, I support it and want every dev to wildly succeed. This isn't about that. This is about xda making a decision to commit to usability and striking a better balance between content and advertising than what we have today because its not working as it stands. Thanks for the rant

For last couple of weeks, I've been experiencing an EXTREMELY ANNOYING pop-up ads problem on XDA Forums. It's so frustrating I cannot browse this forum from my phone anymore. And it's definately not about my device/software. I tried every possible software solution but still no luck and I have this problem on more than one device. All these spam/ads are coming from the same website: itt-edu.us and they these ads claim that I have virus on my device, my device is slow or outdated etc and they redirect me to some software called 360 Security on Play Store. These ads keeps poping up unless I close the tab in browser. Here are some screenshots from these ads I've been talking about, they are all in Turkish(my native language): http://imgur.com/a/Yam1D
Here is a thread about the issue from another user: http://xdaforums.com/galaxy-s6/help/question-spam-t3278835
And here is a thread from a local forum, these people also claim that issue is about XDA itself not our devices: http://forum.donanimhaber.com/m_112937991/tm.htm
