No doubt asked already but what is better about this app over google now?
My algorithms are improving all of the time, so managed to drop the Android System from the beginning of the connections commands and Open Application/app is now just Open +app name. It's made them a lot more 'usable', so I'm glad this has worked out. Will we see natural speech soon?
like I can speak naturally to my phone without having to include trigger words.
For example instead of "android system turn off wifi" we could use something like "Turn off wifi"

The incredible quick and personal support you get from Brandall, the developer, is one reason.
Thanks for your kind words guys, you're good to me... Right now, it doesn't compare to Google Now, but if I can get everything that's in scripts, on paper and in my head into Java, I'm quietly confident that the direction the app is taking will make it more useful. I won't list everything I've got planned, as the walls have ears! Or eyes, I suppose..if you watch the 30 minute video demonstrating the application and all of its functions you can understand why this is going to be better then Google Now.
I will admit that Google Now is amazing and the new speech synthesis engine is extremely pleasant, but the level of support that brandall has and is providing is just uncanny and phenomenal.
I've been testing this app since the first apk was posted in the thread and at times it seems as though brandall is torturing himself in order to push the next update out, just to fix a simple bug.
All in all this app once it drops the beta tags will be a force to be reckoned with.
Thank you thank you
Hi mcampbellsmith, when you say 'listen on startup' can you clarify what you mean please? Also, do you mean a bluetooth headset? - If so, I'm working on a way to activate utter! via wired/bluetooth headset button press.. Let me know!Hi!
Loving this app! It is great.
One request: it would be great if there was the possibility to have the app listen on startup. This way I can use the app with my bluetooth device.
Is there anyone who has a suggestion on how I can do this (without using Tasker)?
Thanks!

Got it, thanks. I had a glance at the application, but couldn't see if it was able to launch activities, rather than just full applications? For programming reasons I won't bore you with, I don't want the main application of utter! to start the recognition.Hi brandall, By listen at startup I mean start listening at app startup. So the app launches directly into 'listening mode' (when she says 'yes Mark'). This way I can set Headset Droid to start the app when I press my Bluetooth headset button.
I have not found a way to search via a Bluetooth button press.....
Hope that is a bit clearer?
Thanks Blurrix, appreciate your feedback and glad to hear it's working as I'd hoped it would (and does for me!).First thing I must say is this app is progressing really well.

Algorithms are working and improving well which is good. Speech recognition is working flawlessly (over wifi), can even pick up what I'm saying while people are talking next to me (this mostly would not happen in earlier versions). The speed has increased, especially over wifi which is good. The apps aesthetics are brilliant, simple and suit the apps theme. (not overdone)
I have to blame IVONA too - it so rarely happens to me when I use other engines... I've rebuilt the background text-to-speech and listener functions completely which I'll release here to test as soon as I've completed everything for Kickstarter. I hope is reduces bugs further...Issues:
Occasionally the app is unresponsive, won't start. (Probably IVONA)
Thank you - The rebuild I mention above will hopefully catch the hole in the initial data connection check and then the networking losing connectivity shortly after - There is a void there that I need to fill that unfortunately Android doesn't provide a built-in solution for.Occasionally the app won't process the command given (lost connection) with 2 to 3 bar connectivity HSPDA. Although when I type in the command in advanced testing over HSPDA it is fast and always processes the command.
Occasionally won't tell me that it has lost connection. ("listening" just disappears)
Overall the app is working well, keep up the good work Brandall!
I like your thinking 'Flags' of where utter! is in a conversation or where it is in a command process is again working on my test devices - albeit only under certain circumstances. The kickstarter video will demo a screenshot - followed by a request to 'zip the screenshot', followed by a request to 'email the zip' - It demonstrates the 'back-stack memory' utter! will have and its ability to 'understand' what has just happened and what therefore could be requested next.EDIT: Just thought of an idea, would be useful for long commands. For example, I ask utter to "google search, what is the longest river in the world, and where is it located?". it runs the command and lists the search result. Then suddenly the browser crashes. Instead of asking the same question, I can tell utter to "run recent command" or "last command" and it will run what I previously asked before.
Kill +app name should work for you if you're rooted?please add a feature to kill unused apps to free up some memory
or is it doable with tasker?
A couple of weeks. Need to do nothing now but get Kickstarter sorted then the features will be piled in...
Thanks for letting me know. We'll get it working for you... If nothing happens when you tap the shortcut, this suggests a problem with the tts engine you are using. Can you go to the Android tts settings and press 'listen to an example'. Also, click on the engine you are using and make sure there are no additional download files required or that need updating.Just wondering if anyone else has managed to get nutter to work on Temaseks CM7 KANG?
- Just tried and it installs ok
- Runs ok and I can interact with the different menu options
- The create launcher link puts a nutter icon on my desktop
- Clicking the desktop icon does nothing.
Cleared the apps cache, removed and re-installed and nothing changed.
If you need any log files or want it testing on perhaps a different ROM let me know.

Uninstall and reinstall Google Voice Search and reboot.
Let me know how you get on!

Great, glad it's working now. Texting and a load of other features will be enabled and piled in in a few weeks time (see the in app command list for currently disabled stuff). All working now. It turns out I didn't have Google Voice Search installed So my small note before final release would be to get it to push the phone to the gvs play page if it's not installed or at least prompt.
That said, outstanding app so far! Very impressed. The only thing I can't get it to do right now is text someone however calling etc. all works. Can't wait to see what other commands/features you manage to add to it.
Goes without saying that if you need another phone or two for testing let me know.
Even though right now I just feel very annoyed at my own stupidity, I am very grateful to you!

Thanks for all of the comments and support folks. For all of those eager to test something I'm going to knock up a configuration apk over the weekend. Nothing too exciting I'm afraid, but digesting the comments I've realised I really need to initially focus on the following:
