What they will need to do is process a full retail device and discount it down to $0.
At that point you'll have a device and you'll still be on EDGE so it will satisfy their system needs.
If you were never charged for the original device that you did on EDGE that makes it a little harder, but most likely you'll need to call into their financial services department to have the loan invalidated.
The retail channel will be your best bet, just be super nice to the people in store and explain the situation thoroughly. It isn't their fault and you'll really need them to go above and beyond to try and get this fixed in one shot, which even then it might not be possible for them as most of the loan info (thats what edge really is) is taken care of through a whole separate department.
