Yep.. it's good.. just wish sometimes that I hadn't unlocked the bootloader, cos now I can't "like" music on the phone because fro some stupid reason it wants to use DRM to post the info onto FB... and DRM don't F'ing work on an unlocked BL...

Have you got any idea how to create a system.img for fastboot flashing?? would like to have a go at recreating the pre-rooted img.

sorry bro, no clue, did you try searching google?, or just wait for the person who made the pre rooted image before, send him a message and ask

ahahahaa yeh man, i feel your pain, i flashed the hong kong firmware like 2 times on my phone, and i just flashed the o2 one, its so much cleaner and faster compared to the hong kong one, o2 didint add any of their junk to it, and my wifi problem is gone to :D

yeah!! I forgot to mention this in the other thread...but there is absolutely no bloatware from o2 unlike other carriers...so its pretty much like the update for an unlocked device...YAY!!:D..something o2 did good for a change (or actually did nothing..lol)

Make sure it's in flash mode. So while you plug in the usb. Press the power and back button and the led notifcation should turn green

Sorry guys, I just want to check if it is possible for an locked bootloader device to flash back from 2.3.3 Build145 to 2.3.2 Build181?

I am thinking of should I upgrade my firmware [bootloader still locked], but I worry that affects the future potential for Rooting 2.3.3 by using Gingerbreak, if I upgrade to 2.3.3

You could use the flastool to flash back to previous firmware versions

Isn't there other way to flash the rom than using Flashtool. i don't get it to work tried on 2 pc's.it doesn't find the phone in fastboot. when i use fastboot from cmd i can see the device.

It's not a driver issue, i tried two versions of flash tool. i never used flash tool. Isn't there something to flash with Mac or Linux?

    {experimental}

i am not very sure but i think u can flash using fastboot:

    fastboot system system.sin

or rename system.sin to system.img and try flashing via fastboot

    for kernel:

    fastboot boot kernel.sin

or rename kernel.sin to boot.img and try flashing via fastboot

    one request:
why dont u guys use rar/7zip to compress these files?

ftf files compress by almost 30% to 70% if u use 7zip (LZMA ultra high compression)

would save a lot of bandwidth, upload & download time...

    see:

    ~280 MB compressed to ~150MB

Thanks SO much for this! Spent ages looking for stock roms to get back from CM7.2.

    1. Relocked the bootloader using the method described here: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1133650

    2. Took the Arc back from CM7.2 to SE stock using the "Generic Global" link above. Along with the Flashtools 0.5.3 link provided in http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1330314

    3. Booted phone up. It took a few minutes.

    4. Connected to PC Companion and ran the phone update.

    5. Attempted update to 4.0.2.A.0.42. (I live in Australia for what thats worth) via the automated SE PC Companion. Process FAILED after downloading some things, says "The phone contains modified software that cannot be updated".

    6. Crucial step was missed. As per the Flashtool instructions, after flashing the bootloader RElocker, it says to enable usb debugging + enable unknown sources. It DOESNT however, tell you to plug the phone BACK IN to the USB after you have done this. A simple fix by adding this to the Flashtool instructions would have saved me hours.

    7. After plugging in the phone with those 2 things enabled, ran the "repair phone" option in SE PC Companion.

    8. Profit.

Might go back to try CM9 or simply await the SE release of ICS. Just found CM7.2 to be too buggy and the only real reason I flashed onto that was to access the permission settings in that rom. I am a privacy freak... Think I will look for an app for it now. I just wanted my camera and touchscreen to work properly, as well as the inbuilt keyboard swiping.

Anyway, that was my experience and I spent a good couple of hours trying to suss all this out. New to the rom scene and flashing etc. Yay for me not having bricked anything, yet. :) (oh, except for a ******* 32gb SD card, which probably was a dodgy knock off in the first place, and now thinks it's a 254gb card :-\ {was during some attempts to transfer mp3's across both via USB cable and inbuilt card reader})

    Thanks for your post!
