My friend has a Gal nexus too and his speeds aren't as good either.. weird
The galaxy nexus uses HSPA+21 and the GS3 uses HSPA+42

These tests are done at my house which is in the county about 15 miles outside of Baltimore City. In Baltimore City, I easily clear 20 megs down and 3 megs up with a ping around 50.
This is only in about 5 percent of coverage area. Usually it's about five meg. Colorado Springs, CO
