I'm on " CM9 Operation: Inferno v3.1", i found with the tiamatV2 kernel and the shotofawesomenessV2 i had a noticeable difference from stock, i couldn't believe how long it lasted.

I still prefer the infernoshot2 since you can switch between 2 cpu governor settings (lagfree/smartassv2).

I've been on AOKP for a while, and it has my vote for a great battery life. I've been able to get 4 days no charge off of it with an extended, when I've usually only gotten 2 or 3 from MIUI and CM.

Any ICS based ROM should get you great battery life. Based on what I've read, the code has been optimized to be more efficient.

My personal choice right now is IceColdSandwich by androidinsomnia. Through light-moderate use all day at work I come home with ~45% at the end of the day. Sure, you can get days on standby, but real world use is what I'd be concerned with.

The GB kernels we have had many, many hours -even days - put into them. They will give you better battery life and more stability. That could change once the DHD ICS kernel source drops and devs get ahold of it. We have ICS, but it's frankensteined like a mofo. Here's to sheer determination!
If you've helped me I'll be sure and hit the "Thanks" button. Please do the same for me!
