Yes this is my issue as well. Computer sees the signal and attempts to connect but cannot. Installed perfectly, but my computer says "limited access." Any suggestions? Thanks. Sorry, same issue as the post 2 up from this.

Signature errors

I've got a Sprint Epic 4G rooted with stock kernel 2.6.29 and DI18 build.

When trying to load the zip via either with ClockworkMod Recovery (2.5.1) or using the native recovery (after renaming zip to update.zip) I get the following:

E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted

At first I thought it was a problem with ClockworkMod since I got the same error when trying to do a ROM backup. However, running default recovery yields same error.

Any suggestions?

Anyone have this issue?

The only difference between my success that keeps showing up is I'm on stock rom, while others who fail seem to be on a custom rom (and usually seems to be EE)

Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App

From my experience (I have installed syndicate rom, apophis and EE), MobileAP does not work with deodexed roms. With the stock rom, MobileAP runs great. Haven't witnessed any problems thus far -> Day 3.

Awesome mod, works great with a stock Samsung Epic!

Small question though, should the provider push out firmware updates (or the much-coveted Android 2.2 push), can I update and keep this mod? Or should I reflash back to pure stock and then get an update?

...or should I just wait until the patch actually rolls around and let things sort themselves out here? :D

Sorry for the dumb question, but what does it mean to "flash" it with clockwork recovery? Is it just installing the zip from sdcard while in recovery mode? Because I do that and I still don't have MobileAP in the settings on my Vibrant.

i don't know why my mobile ap doesn't work. this will act like a wireless router right? so laptop will scan then it should detect that there's an available connection. but this doesn't showup in my laptop.

The MobileAP is now up and running on the Vibrant, Captivate & Orange i9000. Still trying to work out what is going on with the Epic version.Just flash the folowing through recovery. You access the MobileAP in Settings>Wireless and network>Mobile AP Settings.

**Captivate users please make sure you are using a custom kernel that supports this.

**Vibrant users just need to flash and you are good.

**Epic users just flash the update.zip. it appears all previous issues have been resolved. thanks to Firon for the ammends needed!

THIS NEEDS TO BE FLASHED WITH CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY! THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH AN AOSP ROM. THE 1st BOOT WILL TAKE A WHILE BECAUSE OF THE DEXOPT. DON"T FREAK OUT!

Use the one for your phone from below!

"**Vibrant users just need to flash and you are good."

I am new to Androids and took some time to figure out what to do before I tried this on my U.S. Galaxy S Vibrant. It failed and I am not certain why, though this is not uncommon common to my long experience of Linux (manual-writing requires different skills). The following is what I determined I had to do, and did:

    1. I rooted the phone using "SGH-959 Root Update.zip" and associated directions - I now have a "Superuser Permission" app but it's not clear to me what it does -- I mean, if it gave me a terminal window I would understand.

    2. I installed ROM Manager and executed "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery." It now reports current Recovery as ClockworkMod 2.5.1.2

    3. I downloaded "signed-mobileap.vibrant.T959UVJI6.v2.zip" to my computer (Xubuntu) and renamed (a copy of it) to "update.zip."

    4. I connected the phone in USB mode and copied "update.zip" to the phone root (not the microSD card root where I'd earlier placed other files, independent of phone, via USB card reader).

    5. I disconnected the phone from the computer, waited for "cards" to remount local to phone, brought up ROM Manager, and selected "Boot into Recovery."

    6. Once in recovery mode I selected "reinstall packages." There it started into the installation process and returned a message (in red) "installation aborted."

Settings - About Phone - Baseband version reports: T959UVJI6

What have I done wrong?

Don't rename it just flash via cwm .
Boot into cwm and select "install zip from sdcard" then select "choose zip from sdcard" . Then select and flash the file.
