Do I *need* a 'recovery rom' just to install Google Apps?
Forgive my ignorance
I want to install/flash google apps on my Chinese Huawei G520
Everyone keeps banging on about have I got a "recovery rom" installed - nope - dont want one dont need one - I dont care what goes wrong because I have a copy of my stock rom I am happy to wait 5 mintues and re-install that (have do so about 100 times now anyway) - to be honest i dont care if it bricks - without google ill chuck it anyway
My phone is rooted
I have a copy of gapps (google apps zip)
Have copies of 32832896372163512 million different custom roms for my phone
Also has the green man installed (the one that appears when I hold volume Up and power) which I assume is Clock work recovery mode?
but it wont install anything, roms, gapps, nadda, zilch - always aborts near the end
So I'm wondering what this "custom recovery rom" is and whether or not it is optional
