[Q] Flash official firmware from different region/carrier WITHOUT unlock/root?
On Samsung devices you can flash an official firmware from a different region or carrier without root, without custom recovery, and without unlocking anything using the ODIN tool, and the device will not show up as having been unlocked/tampered. This is because the device accepts any official firmware.
.... Is there an equivalent on the HTC One?
Specifically, is it possible to flash an official international (WWE?) firmware on an HTC One that comes from a different region or carrier without putting the phone into an "unlocked" or "tampered" state, and so that it will then receive OTA updates for that new region?
How would I go about it? I'm a bit confused because most guides seem to talk about having to root the phone or unlock the bootloader first (or even obtain S-OFF), but if I'm flashing an official firmware, this shouldn't be necessary, right? Any help?
