I'll revert some stuff and put something new out.
Hopefully with an OTA feature baked in.

Also don't forget this has a cyanogen base....... Remember to check cyanogen bug tracker for issues on their end
or to report them.

Also Google play is a nightmare in general.
Some have missing apps (and they are not reporting region and giving clean details) and others see them all.
Check or report issues HERE
I'm highly tempted to lock in the market version I know works for most, but I know some will be unhappy that it's an older version.
Well see what happens there.

ALL bug reports need info like: device, and region, carrier, exact HONEST steps you took to install, kernel version used, changes to settings and if possible a logcat. pictures can help also.
not too much to ask, right? If it is, watch this video :)

Simply stating it doesn't work I went to a different rom doesn't help anyone. It's kinda lazy.

Help me help you, and all the while remembering or learning a few things.
This is xda DEVELOPERS. Its not xda product done. It's all a work in progress.
I work very hard and spend many personal hours, to give you my personal work. Thanks are awesome!
My device is bricked, and thank the testers for doing there thing
I don't know everything, if I did, it would be cyanogen miui and boca as the leading alternative android operating systems.

Please be CLEAR with reports, patience is great and don't forget to have fun

if you would like to be an active tester, contact me on gtalk. At BOCAroms@gmail.com or hit the contact button an say so.

Fixing up goo compatibility.
Now my work actually shows up when pressing 'browse for compatible roms'
V2.0.7 and 2.0.8 are the same, but with a music app a2dp auto connect taken out.
Two versions, because I am trying to fix and test ota's.
FIXED!!! FOR P1000/R/T users.
I'll take out the kernel stuffs, and so it's compatable with all. I'll post so when it's done. For now N/L users just flash your kernel directly afterwards.

Any ota issues contact me
Any goo manager app or download issues, kindly contact goo-inside.me
thanks all!
Na, I don't believe I ever touched the light sensor or automatic backlight setting (I think by default their off). Issue still occurs after fixing permissions also.

I'll rebuild with my back light settings taken out.

Ps
More items under my dev name at goo.
apps and an expieramental portraite usb host kernel too

Hi diz.

Let me thank you first for all the work and effort you have been putting to this rom despite the fact that you have a bricked tab and you will not be able to see your own work. Just want you to know that your work is greatly appreciated here.

Can i ask if the update is a no-wipe version? No need to restock, wipe and all?

Hi diz.

So we will just flash the update directly through goo manager? No need to restock, wipe and all?
To update through goo, from BOCA to BOCA;
a simple flash should be fine, it was built as an OTA.
but, to error on the safe side of at least clearing cache and dalvic cache would be the next best thing.
A factory reset/clear user data shouldnt be needed, unless issues arrise.
Restocking definetly isnt needed.
backing up is a good idea, so you have a backup of current os.

Im told that auto recovery restart install script just reboots you into recovery.
Then you have to do the rest yourself.

A note on this.
this function is only supported on 4/5 devices so far.
We dont have the same recovery most devices have, hence no rommanager support.
i hope to work with sOup to get this feature working on our device also.

@all
all bug reports that can be duplicated and or confirmed are read carefully, researched and taken into consideration.

Na, openrecoveryscript was made by the guys at TeamWin just because cwm extended commands had a ClockWorkMod LLC licence

When they submitted the code to be merged into CyanogenMod, koush simply removed the licence and asked them to use it freely

So, the next version would probably support CWM, or till then you can grab sources from https://github.com/TeamWin and build for galaxytab/p1

I am also curious about this. The main thing I'm looking forward to is the fixed backlight on capacitive keys :) In any case, I'll try flashing 2.0.8 in a little bit and find out (unless there is a reply about the backlight before I flash :p)

Diz replied about the capacitive buttons after you reported it. He said he will just remove his mod of the capacitive lights in the latest release. Does this mean that the buttons will now be 'on' all the time, as it is in gb? If that's the case, then i think i'll stick with 2.0.6.

Hi, so I've finally install RC2 over standard / generic 2.3.8 with Redpill 2.0.1 kernel.

I must say this rom is quite new experience on our GT7. Amount of tweaks had positively astonished me.
Cwm installation went without issues, dead-simply I would say.
I didn't restock, and just clear dalvik and cache.
After reboot I had some glitches and end-up with factory reset but in some cases I found that enough is to clear particular app cache.
Anyway, as my grandma said, "there's always good time for factory reset ".

As for rom itself. Bottom status bar is an revolution for me. Additional action buttons are great, especially when screen is rotated.
ROM is noticeable snapier than previous and they were both overlooked to 1.2 GHz.
Installation and app updates are done much faster.
For now I didn't found any app which crash.

As for battery, I'll post an update later when I'll do more testing but for now I don't see much difference with previous rom.

Thank You DIZ for great rom. It brings new experience to our tabs.

In any case, I just flashed 2.0.8, and my backlight still turns off after a while, and doesn't come on until I lock the tab and awaken it. This is on a fresh install with fixed permissions (from CWM) too

Please submit a proper bug report.
also, unless YOU (or thats all your service providers or area have) told it to sit in 2g this rom tends to idle and surf the higher speeds of all networks. (A build.prop tweak)

Just awaiting bug reports for v2.0.8 (interested in bluetooth music issues - are they better in 2.0.8 or in first msi release?)
Is anything better/worse as the builds progress?

Some want the lights on, some off. We are gonna have to settle for one or the other.

For me with 2.0.8 bluetooth is good, now i have phone and media working well.

remain sporadic FC with some app for exemple maps and oyher app that don't work at all like tiny tower (game) or doveconviene (italian shopping app).

No other issue for me (for now :p)

;)

On Hyperdroid ROM, the lights would be on, but would shut off after about 10-20 seconds of inactivity, but as soon as I touch the screen or another button, they would turn back on. Hyperdroid also has backlight notifications too (I'm pretty sure I noticed this on this ROM though, but I can't recall if the lights flashed slowly, or just stayed on? Hyperdroid had the light flash slowly)

Any other ROM i've seen just keep the lights on always unless the device has its screen off.

---------- Post added at 12:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:34 AM ----------

@Espionage, what can you say about the latest release?
I haven't really used it too long (I just flashed it earlier to see the backlight thing and haven't touched it since) but it installed nicely and boots :p

that backlight fade is a stock rom feature.
I dont off hand know of any aosp/cyanogen based roms that do that.
I am trying to add bld though.
yes we have back light notifications, and the blinks are moddable.

Good to know the media bluetooth is working better now.
I just resynced to get newest additions, now im adding back in the 200 or so mods that make it "BOCA" add a few more and add a P1000N/L prepacked version (thanks al roger for the N files, from back when he was a BOCA regular)
Sit tight, it is a very time consuming process.

Also starting a new kernel.
Added usb host, and hope to add more ram (so far 2mbs have been added!), bigmem, and some other nifty stuffs.
i also plan to redo my github kernel sources, so you can follow each commit, to make it easier if you want any of the BOCA kernels awesomeness for your releases.
Currently my kernel works for any of my gb releases, as well as tecks cm7, and xaiverjohns miui.
It is also the structural base for the cm9 kernel.
what im trying to say is it is a very flexable, stable moddable kernel.
More to be added ;)
permanent kernel credits go to:
Spacemoose1 (created and built original BOCA kernel)
Technomancer - many additions and general cm7 kernel work
Me - lol!
Team hacksung - general samsung and cm7 kernel work
kodaxai - i can never spell his name, sorry, but he is the pure kernel yoda! Almost all kernels (all) use his patches and work.
Some others - if i forgot you, kindly alert me.

Back to work!

Ps
i want to mod our gpu, if you can help, or have info; hit the contact button.

WARNING!!! IF YOU ARE COMING FROM AN MTD PARTITIONS ROM (te4m cm9)
A FULL RE-PARTITION & RESTOCK MAY BE NEEDED
TO MAKE THIS OR ANY OTHER TAB ROM FUNCTION PROPERLY

All your data will also be erased.

    Install Instructions
For Coming From Any Rom That isn't BOCA, MIUI or unofficial port based off of CM7 (Teks)
    (see below for those instructions)

As you all know, when switching from rom to rom, something called a safe stock re-partitioned is very much preferred, almost required. Even more so, when jumping from roms with different os bases, example is going from a 2.3 based rom to a 2.3.7 or 4.0.4 (or reverse).
You need to do this process to kinda bleach out anything that remains of the old rom, as many times these arent properly cleared through a recovery erase, and can leave behind bits and pieces that can, and frequently do, disrupt the next rom you try to run. This is never a good thing, as it can cause anything from a bootloop to mysterious ghost like behaviors. Not to mention many things many not work correctly in your new rom.

Team Overcome has created, or basically repacked a way to do this. Many thanks!!!!
    TeamOvercome website HERE

    1) Go to Overcomes website, and download a zip called: ROM | 001001-GB-Stock-Safe-v5
(this is the base, non branded 'official' release of Gingerbread from Samsung. Overcome has made a few modifications to this file, and added Odin, modems and Samsung SGT driver installer to the zip)
    2) While at the Overcome site, also download a zip called: KERNEL | 002001-Overcome Kernel V3.3.1 (TAR)
(this is a kernel made by AB, with some nice work done to it. But what we need it for is to convert our system to ext4. It will not run BOCA)
    3) Unzip the GB-Stock zip, and open it up.
    4) Open SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_x86, and run it. This will reinstall, and clean up any old drivers for your tab.
    5) plug in your tab when done, and let you computer fully install you SGT's drivers. Once its finished, unplug your tab.
    6) Unplug any USB devices from your computer, & Open Odin3_v1.7, once it opens, plug your tab back in to your computer, in download mode.
Under ID:COM, a yellow window should now state your tabs is connected.
    7) Place gt-p1000_mr.pit inside the PIT slot, PDA slot, place: GB_Stock_Safe_v5.tar
    8) Make sure Re-partition, Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked, press start.
    9) Once finished, and your tab has rebooted, press reset in Odin. On your tab, skip through all the setup options, and reboot into download mode.
    10) Plug your tab back into your computer, and place: 002001-Overcome_Kernel_v3.3.1.tar into the PDA slot, and press start.
    11) Let your tabs sexy robot voice convert your system, once done, boot into recovery, clear everything, go to zip installer, and choose BOCA from your SD card. Let install.
*11.1) L/N device users, must now flash your cm7 device kernel
    12) Boot into BOCA, and reboot once.
    13) As with ANY rom, please do a full battery calibration with the included apk, ASAP.
    14) Enjoy BOCA!!

At BOCAroms@gmail.com or hit the contact button an say so.

is everyone enjoying the unrivaled awesomeness that is tweakr?

Diz Thanks once again for an amazing release.

The Nemus launcher is a great addition, for myself I prefer it to VTL.

As Diz has a bricked device I have been doing a bit of testing and am very impressed with the new release.
Battery life is excellent, it's fast and looks great. Screen shots coming shortly.
Above you will see all the additions to this rom. The control over the device is amazing, so many options to make it truly yours.

Installing the new version (my notes for when coming from overcome kernal or BOCA release etc) If in doubt restock

Copy the RC 2.0.6 to the internal SD card of the tab.
    Remember to backup the device
In all cases you will need to :-
    Wipe
    Wipe
    Wipe
    Reboot twice
Log in to Gmail or G Talk.

    Installing from a BOCA release.

    To start, restart to Recovery.

Use the Volume button to access Wipe menu and Power button to select.
    Wipe Cache
    Wipe Dalvik Cache
    Wipe Data / factory reset

Once you have wiped your tab clean select Go Back and select install menu then choose zip from internal SD card.

Local the RC2.0.6.zip file and hit the power button to install
Once complete go to reboot menu and reboot your tab. As we have wiped the cache etc it will take a while to boot, this is normal.

Once the system has booted you will be asked to select your launcher. Select one and see what you think. If you want hit the home button and select the other one and then you can chose the best one for you.
Once you are happy with your launcher, hit home again, tick the box to make the launcher default and select it.

Now reboot. Don’t bother doing anything else until you have done a reboot.
If your unlock screen is smaller than the device screen, you have not restarted the device..

Once your reboot has completed I suggest that you connect to WIFI now. Start the market and put in your details, it will update to play and then you should be ok to update apps install what you need etc.
Remember Diz does not have a working tab. For this reason some of the apps are not up to date, update from my apps to resolve this.

Re the status bar, the ROM has an option turned on to enable a dead zone in the middle of the status bar. To pull up the notification bar do it from the right hand side, if you use the middle it will seem that notification bar is not working, this is not the case.
To disable this go to settings, CyanogenMod settings, Tablet Tweaks and de-select the dead zone.
The dead zone is great if you are hitting the status bar instead of the space bar whilst typing..
