This is what im getting when i try to compile. Im working on a skin for Evo4G LTE, Android 4.1.1 htc sence ver 4+(not sure what the plus is..) the rom is meanbean1.7
i pulled com.htc.resources , framework.res and the framework-htc-res.. Any help would be nice.. would like to get a theme going..

So for sake of what I want to do lock rings and such. I should say only work with one framework at a time? I might be confused..Lol..

), so I fixed those. VTS won't search all images of an apk for indexed ones since that takes quite some time and I never found a single one in the 'normal' pictures.
You usually (ie. for newer HTC roms) need multiple frameworks. You can basically install ALL apks from /system/framework as frameworks with the same tag and select this tag in the project settings.

i know that i did do that with the ones i installed. IE made the tag the same. ill try again... and im gonna install all of them this time.. also when im selecting my sense ver what should i set it at? it says i have 4.+

now when you say did i assign the tag to the project do you mean like when i first open a new project, then in the apktool sec choose the framework tag that i tagged the frame work i want to use? Yes I did that! if thats not what you mean then i have no clue...

Try following this procedure http://www.virtuous-ten-studio.com/index.php/getting-started/88-setting-up-your-first-project. Start with one apk at a time.
But this is what I did -
Click on:
New Project
Project choose Apk-Project(give your Project and Solution a name)
Apk-tool (to be honest I didn't do anything with this)
Smali choose 4.1 Jellybean
M10(Optional) tick "Use M10 tools to decompile M10 files" choose Sense 4.1
Import choose the file you want to work on then click OK
Everything I said may not be textbook correct but this was how I was able to get my mods and other work done without issue. I'm just trying to help out here.
So when I set up my framework with a tag do I need to make a tag the same for all or different for each. I've followed that guide along with the skin guide as well and to no luck. I'll try what you said and leave the apk part alone.

To be honest, I didn't set up any tags. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I haven't had any problem decompiling and recompiling my apk's.
Just some clarification on tags:
Tags are useful if you are editing apks from different versions of android...GB/ICS/JB, or Sense/AOSP/MIUI.
As you know, if you want to decompile an apk, you need to install the framework apks first. So, say you're working on an ICS apk. You install the ics framework-res.apk etc. All fine. But now you want to work on a JB apk. So you install the JB framework-res.apk. Now this overwrites the ICS fw-res you installed before, so you'd need to reinstall that if you wanted to work on ics apks again.
But if you installed the ICS frameworks using the tag "ICS", and the JB frameworks with a "JB" tag, then you can have both sets of framework files installed side by sidez and call the relevant one using the tag, depending on which android version the target apk is from. So, all framework apks from a particular android version can have the same tag...and in fact this probably keeps things simpler. And if you're only ever working on apks from one android version, you don't need tags at all.
Hope that makes things clearer, and not more horribly complicated!!

However, there are a few points everyone has to understand, so I'll publish them prior to the official launch to get a bit more attention. :silly:

Let's have a look at the new key features being added in this release:
- VTS is now able to decompile m10 images. This means everyone can do skins for HTC Sense devices
- Navigatin in XML documents is much easier now. Simply hold CTRL and click on any reference inside a XML document to jump to the source
- The content of smali documents gets automatically checked for syntax errors now. Live. And in color.
- We worked hard to provide you useful guides and tutorials on the new website. Additionally, VTS has a (little) help system built in. These are short explanations for a few key features. You can find everything related to "Help" in the new Help tab.
- It seems nobody saw the potential of the old "Backup" feature, so in this version I added an additional window to easily compare different projects, folders and files. This comes in super handy when porting all kinds of stuff to new apk/jar versions for example.

VTS Changelog
A few additional notes:
- I changed the license system a bit to help those that had to start VTS with admin rights to find the license. However, to fully use that fix, you need to activate your license in VTS again. Have a look at your license email if you don't remember anymore how to do that.
- This release should fully support Windows 8. There's a little glitch in the "View tab" where one checkbox is a bit cut off, but I'll fix that with the next version.
- Speaking of the next version.... This is the last release with support for Windows XP. The next version (the one after the the one that will be released shortly ) won't suppor XP anymore. So if you are still using XP (shame on you ), remember to not update after this release.
- Despite having fixed the admin issue with licenses, it still seems that VTS needs admin rights for certain other things. If something goes weirdly wrong, try restarting VTS with admin rights.
