SD card keeps unmounting with screen off, ramping up media scanner and (presumably) Android OS. Battery life has noticeably dropped. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated
Ok, so today I went on a AOSP rom tear looking for something that was the most stable. All 3 of the roms I tried (PacMan, Vanilla and Carbon) I could not send/receive MMS on stock messenger and GPS would drop when on 4G. I know that these two issues seem to be prevalent in all AOSP roms at this time.
I was wondering if there is any build of CM (IDC how old the build is) that has those two things working almost 100%. I figure since Sbrissen's work lead to all the other AOSP roms this should be the place to look for stability.

The 314 unofficial has gps working fine over lte.
This thread post 510Where do I find that build? Unofficial thread doesn't have nightly builds as far as I can tell

Scott, It might be helpful to put a link to the unofficial w/gps fix in the op until a more permanent solution is found.
My mms works. But it seems to be hit and miss from phone to phoneDavid you are correct. Goods does work with LTE. It's the only AOSP rom that does from my experience. Unfortunately MMS is a no go for me on stock Messenger.

Do you think you can upload your Messenger app and I can install it over mine to make it work? If it weren't for this mms issue I'd make this my daily. I really don't want to have to use that bloated Go Sms.
Edit: do you think you are taking any special steps that is making your MMS work on the stock Messenger? There must be some concrete reason this is an issue. I remember the old temporary fix used to be to delete telephony.db
I tried that and it worked for a little while but after a reboot it would stop working again.

I'm on AOKP mr1 andi have fully functioning GPS, LTE, Bluetooth, WiFi, MMS, no fc issues whatsoever. I would call this as stable as can get ATM. I was on tw ROM before I flashed. I got GPS fix on Google maps, went to recovery, factory rest is all I did installed AOKP mr1 and gapps. Rebooted. If you get a phone fc just go to recovery and fix permissions. Since then I've had no issue and battery life is great. Tried the same application on the "other" cm based ROMs and couldn't get GPS at all. Ill download the latest nightly and see if I can get the same effect.

You know what I will give AOKP a shot but I'm sure that all the things that are working for you won't work for me.

And here's some alternatives to Touchwiz apps (PM me if you want me to add something!)1. S Pen works (try out the app Papyrus as a replacement to S Note, Papyrus does utilize the S Pen button as well).
2. Air View works (Go to settings, Language & input, check "Show icon when using stylus".
3. The S Pen button works(Go to settings, Language & input, Stylus gestures, those all use the s pen button).
4. Pop up browser = OverSkreen from the Google Play Store.
5. I use the 4.2 Camera on Touchwiz anyway. There are plenty of good camera apps in the market if you want more features.
6. Multiwindow. There is no alternative, dont ask.
