Defiance ROM

This ROM is a product of a few days work, and I've waited to release it until I could confirm that it was stable by using it a few days myself.

The battery life should now be great - comparable to the 1.5 ROMs.
It's based on BeHero 1.2.3 but with my own tweaks added in.

There's a full changelog in the 2nd post. I'll hopefully have a Wiki and Bug Tracking feature setup shortly.
I want this ROM to be community supported that is if you have absolutely any requests or suggestions then I would be VERY glad to hear them.

Notes:
1 - No task killer tweak is included. I didn't like having the settings decided for me as it would sometimes kill apps I like to leave running like Talk. I have included AutoKiller 1.1 (new version of MinFreeManager) which you can configure easily and it does the same job as the Task Killer Tweak.

2 - I have tested Wireless Tether and it seems to work for me. If anyone has issues I can replace it with aNetShare

3 - The Ad-Block file may cause Dolphin Browser to give an error saying "Unable to load URL" when it blocks an ad. The default browser is pretty fast in this ROM. If the Dolphin popup becomes annoying I can tell you how to disable adblocking.

4 - I've tried to remove most of the default bookmarks, there's about 4 left. I'll try to get them all removed by the next update.

5 - There should be working VPN and PPTP but it needs testing. Any results will be appreciated.

It would be great to see clean AOSP rom based on Eris leak.

Also, torrent-based distribution would be very appreciated.

Looks good this one! Before I'm going to flash, one question: is the light sensor (auto brightness) working? This doesn't work in all other 2.1 Eris dump ROMs and makes quite a difference on the battery life, as well as usability.

Honestly, I really doubt i have the capability to do that right now, maybe once I'm more experienced with all this.
My upload speed is horrendous, I thought multi-upload would be a decent option as it mirrors the file and gives you a choice of host. It makes me over an hour to upload a ROM

Thanks, sorry but the brightness fix isn't included (as there isn't one yet). As soon as its figured out I'll add it. I tried this ROM on Thursday without the battery fix, and again since Friday with the fix and it's a LOT better!

All right, I give you the benefit of the doubt and going to flash this one :) I simply can't accept any ROM that cannot even last a day on one charge...
Out of curiosity, what exactly is your fix for the battery drain?

Yep, even tried with 3G connection instead of WiFi, and nothing new...

EDIT 1 : just after the start, have to wait at least 1 minute for the sim contacts to show up...
EDIT 2 : For the time being, revert to Vilain 3.1. Hope to come back soon.

wow battery drain fixed. remains to be seen but i take your word for it. all these beautiful roms but useless as battery lasts about 12 hrs on all of them. ahero is great rom but battery drain is unacceptable. less than 12 hrs yesterday. hope this walks the walk as it could be a keeper even if i get a day. please note i have full sync on, weather on auto etc............ thanks in advance and flashing now


oops just seen the above post. damn battery improvements out weigh issues mentioned there.

damn man was looking so promising........... gonna try sensehero by maxo but i know battery drain will be there. why can't anyone address this battery issue! please fix google sync mate and reupload as you did say all was working and was tested for days prior to release. i am assuming google sync worked for the chef as no sense in releasing?

I charge my phone every night when I was with 1.5. It's something that I found possible with this ROM. Also, for the brightness for now, you could use the Power widget to change your brightness settings.

Yes, Dutch is there.

To all, I'm having a look at Sync right now. I'm just flashing back to the current version of the ROM (was working on a Senseless version). I'll have a look and hopefully get a fix up shortly.

Does the GPS pick up a signal quickly on this ROM? All the other Eris based 2.1 ROMs take about 3 minutes to get a fix. I have never encountered this issue before and on Modaco I get a fix in about 3 seconds when outside.

@TheAshMan: sounds you have some fixxxing to do; busy already? I just flashed the ROM and it seems to work fine, except the Google sync.

    Make sure you wiped everything (data, cache, etc.), reload rom and test again. I have just loaded rom and having no issues at all. Great rom so far!
