I just tried it and it's working fine on T-mobile m919 gs4 official touchwiz rooted NH7 sickness hybrid rom .. <-- just incase anyone wanted to know ... it replaces with no problems and restores with no problem too ... but with the gs4 with the new firmware (nh7) it always comes up with "unknown" even if it's the "gs4" ...

Can someone explain to me how to make this work? I have everything that's needed but can't get new emojis to show

I'll tell you why, because it happened with me also, on my GS3. Your new GS4 update has a new Emoji font which isn't in the App, so it detects as "Unknown", I suppose you can switch easily but cannot revert back right?
(Becausw that was the case with me.)

The only solution is to make a copy of the Original "NotoColorEmoji.ttf" and each time you want your old font back just replace the existing one (set by the emoji switcher).

If I've helped you, press the thanks button.?

Sorry guys, but I've tried and tried to get HTC's color emoji extracted, but no luck. I think they purposefully made them difficult to get (which they're well within their rights to do, as they are copyrighted.)
Unless someone figures out how to extract them, no HTC emoji can be added.

Next version will have downloadable emoji separate from the app. Twitter will probably be included.

Yeah, after upgrading to Lollipop and switching to the iOS emojis, some of them show up the black and white versions and the flags show up as the crossed out squares; see attached pictures. Also, would it be possible to default to the Lollipop emojis if there is no iOS emoji yet? (think this would only need to be done when Android add the new flag emojis to the keyboard)
Thanks for a great app, I hope you continue to develop it!

I updated my HTC One Google Play Edition to Lollipop, and after using this I also have the problem of some emoji being black and white, even after switching it back to Lollipop emojis.
