DEVICE TYPE: Headset with A2DP
DEVICE MODEL NUMBER AND NAME: Aliph Jawbone Icon
PAIRS: Yes
CONNECTS: Yes
RANGE: 1 foot or less
FUNTIONALITY: Works for A2DP, did not attempt to test other uses
LIMITATIONS AND BUGS: Range, sounded choppy (possibly range related)
WORKAROUNDS:

COMPATIBLE APPS: Tested with Pandora
CM7 version: nightly 23
KERNEL: Dalingrin's OC kernel 3/16/11
QUESTIONS:

ADDITIONAL COMMENT : My NC picked up signal from 11 devices when I scanned, including several headsets and phones. The most significant of which being through a wall and 15-20 ft away... (not sure what phone, they customized the identifier to their name and I didn't go ask)

DEVICE TYPE: Keyboard
DEVICE MODEL NUMBER AND NAME: e.g. Microsoft Keyboard 6000
PAIRS: Yes
CONNECTS: Yes
RANGE: >2 (haven't tried more)
FUNCTIONALITY: Works great, have not tried pairing the separate BT numpad
LIMITATIONS AND BUGS: Must follow mfr. directions in pairing
WORKAROUNDS: Hold pairing button on kbd until the green LED blinks, do a search and try to connect, use "0000" for the PIN on the NC, type "0000" then enter on the kbd. It doesn't matter what PIN you use as long as it's consistent on both ends
REQUIRED APPS: None
COMPATIBLE APPS: Anything that uses input
CM7 version: nightly 22
KERNEL: e.g. CM7 stock
QUESTIONS: not a BT problem specifically, but does anyone know how to use keys like ctrl, alt, and esc such that they work in a terminal like Connectbot? The NC would make an awesome portable terminal if only I could use things like screen, vim, etc.

DEVICE TYPE: GPS
DEVICE MODEL NUMBER AND NAME: Holux M-1200
PAIRS: Yes
CONNECTS: Yes
RANGE: <1 ft
FUNTIONALITY: Works
LIMITATIONS AND BUGS: Pairs fine, but won't connect without 3rd party app.
WORKAROUNDS: Use "Connection Workaround" setting in Bluetooth GPS or Bluetooth GPS Mouse.

COMPATIBLE APPS: Google maps, My Tracks (other app will be tested)

QUESTIONS: Anyone know if Dalingrin's kernel might give better range? At less than 1ft I need to tape the Holux to the back of my NC

DEVICE TYPE: GPS
DEVICE MODEL NUMBER AND NAME: RoyalTek, RBT-1000
PAIRS: Yes
CONNECTS: Yes
RANGE: At least 1 meter
FUNCTIONALITY: Complete
LIMITATIONS AND BUGS: None so far
WORKAROUNDS: Use BlueGPS or Bluetooth GPS. Each works though BlueGPS allows the BT unit to replace the system GPS via mock locations. Bluetooth GPS locks the BT unit to itself, making it unavailable to other apps.
REQUIRED APPS: None, if you use BlueGPS, it'll just work (mostly) like a native GPS device.
COMPATIBLE APPS: Bluetooth GPS, Google Maps, and GPS test (kinda).
ROM: CM7 (Gingerbread) Nightly build 23
KERNEL: Dalingrin's OC 031611
QUESTIONS: Why the heck does GPS test show up the correct location and speed but not the satellite info?!

DEVICE MODEL NUMBER AND NAME: cyfi Wireless Sports Speaker Bluetooth
PAIRS: Yes
CONNECTS: Yes
RANGE: less than a foot
FUNTIONALITY: Audio: work - long press built in track forward/back, normal press volume up volume down, pause/play; not work - phone button
LIMITATIONS AND BUGS: If you move too far away the sound gets choppy then disconnects. When using flash video is perfect but wifi connect buffers more
WORKAROUNDS: None - Bluetooth/Wifi Sharing Antenna/CPU/GPU. When they fix Hardware Acceleration for mini-stereo jack use it with speaker docks and use bluetooth only for non-wifi applications or in software fix the functionality of using both. For video playback CM7 needs to fix hardware acceleration.
REQUIRED APPS: A2DP
COMPATIBLE APPS: have not found anything incompatible but wifi buffers a lot with it. Bike holder for this works great. Use with my smaller iPodtouch on bike. It has nice holder to place right next to nook for louder music playback. Sound ok but not great. Bought on woot for $40. Product discontinued but still available (google cyfi). Watch out there is an iPodtouch/iPhone version also that does not use bluetooth although the bluetooth version also works on them.
CM7 version: CM7 Phiremod 5.1
KERNEL: uupdate-CM7-madcat-OC-emmc-032511 and Phiremod 5.1 default
QUESTIONS: Testing phone capabilities? Improving wifi bluetooth with internet applications?
PS: I like it for my bike and using holder next to the color nook. I bought the black model. Does not come with AC adapter so must use 5 volt usb AC converter for charging. Says that it last 6 hours.

Two additional devices and a question

Nice list so far. Quick question for the group: Has anyone found a way to get the microphone working in any bluetooth device to date? I have gotten the Nook to the point where VOIP calls are functional, but the lack of a microphone is really fustrating the effort.

I'm going to test a Motorola H500 later today, but I have already tested two devices that have a microphone, but only the stereo headset output appears to work:

DEVICE TYPE: Stereo headphones and microphone
DEVICE MODEL NUMBERS AND NAMES: Sony MW600 & Sony HBH-Ds205
PAIRS: Yes
CONNECTS: Yes
RANGE: 3 - 5 feet (without obstructions)
FUNTIONALITY: Both devices work great as stereo headphones with very good sound quality.
LIMITATIONS AND BUGS: Microphone does not work.
WORKAROUNDS: None identified yet.
REQUIRED APPS: Latest CyanogenMod 7 Release Candidate
COMPATIBLE APPS: All applications with audio output.
QUESTIONS: Anyone know of a bluetooth device with a working microphone yet?

If anyone has managed to get a WM6 device or a Symbian device to send it's GPS signal to the Nook, I'd love to know how you did it. I spent 3 days trying everything and I think if it could be made to work at this point I could have done it. I'm exhausted from trying. If I ever get it to work I'll post back to this thread.

DEVICE TYPE: Audio Gateway
DEVICE MODEL NUMBER AND NAME: Blackberry bluetooth audio gateway - ASY16130001
PAIRS: Yes
CONNECTS: Yes
RANGE: 1ft max then starts chopping up

If that range gets tweaked on this, somehow, even if i have to modify the hardware myself, I'd be ridiculously happy with this new toy

    Hi Everyone,

Well there's been a crazy flurry of BT discussion all over the forums since BT became functional. I thought it'd be useful to consolidate our experiences with different BT devices.

If we can keep to a standard fromat that'd be great, and as a device is well understood I can bring it back up into a master list in this OP.

So I suggest the following format:

DEVICE TYPE: e.g. Headset, GPS, etc
DEVICE MODEL NUMBER AND NAME: e.g. Mototola H390
    PAIRS: Yes/No
    CONNECTS: Yes/No
    RANGE: in feet
FUNTIONALITY: Does not work / Works / Limitations or bugs
LIMITATIONS AND BUGS: Describe limitations or bugs.
    WORKAROUNDS: Workarounds to resolve issues.
REQUIRED APPS: Software that is required to make the device work
COMPATIBLE APPS: Software that can use the device.
    CM7 version: e.g. nightly 19
    KERNEL: e.g. CM7 stock; Dalingrin's OC kernel 3/13/11

QUESTIONS: questions you might have, or like answered

please link to original posts for bugs, workarounds, software solutions etc - credit where credit is due, and it helps us follow the resolution of issues

    ***Change log***

    3/16/2011, Post #15
    - A huge oversight on my part, but the original post did not include suggested fields for CM7 version and Kernel, now added.

    ***Summary***

GPS - many working devices reported, with supporting apps
Wiimote - works with supportin software
A2DP (audio) - works as-is, range is device and limited
Keyboards - varied success, depending in part on being able to enter security codes during pairing
Handsfree and headset (microphone) devices - do not work... lots of buzz on this one... wait patiently folks :)
