Thank you Thank you Thank you !!!
I did it on my first try.
I have a HD2 on tmobile and I have a Captivate to play with so now I can verufy that my Captivate is working on T-mobile.
I had no clue on how to do any of this but somehow I manage to fiddle my way to unlocking this sucker(on PC).

This is the steps I took for newbies.
You may or may not need to do all this but this is what I did.
- My phone is rooted BTW.
- I downloaded the SDK file and installed it.
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
I think it gave me some type of error saying it couldn't find something.
- I then downloaded the Samsung Galaxy drivers.
Find it here. http://briefmobile.com/how-to-root-the-samsung-captivate
When I installed the drivers, it started recognizing all kind of things.
(This is with my captivate plugged in and in debug mode).
- So after this, I took a stab at running the .bat file and to my surprise, I got the Network CODE.
- So I plugged in my Tmobile sim and restarted and it asked me for a code and it WORKED.

Thanks so much....remembered I'm a total newbie when it comes to all this.

I am going to work out a way to streamline this whole process this week. (save for the drivers) I should be able to make it a two step process of just running the script and typing in the code like the Mac version. In the mac version the SDK was included in the script folder and it worked without doing anything but running the script

Does the phone need to be rooted? Is it possible to pull a vibrant right out of the box, enable USB debugging, and run the script? Then put my AT&T sim in and enter the code?

I have a vibrant brand new in the box and never been turned on so I guess I'm about to find out

Ok so I've successfully unlocked a vibrant to work with att. Now does this unlock stick or will have have to redo this every time I wipe or flash with Odin?

Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

Im trying to use the alternate method to relock the phone to another carrier since I don't have access to an alternate sim. I tried the EG in the first post and put it in both the MCC/MNC and Control key but get an unsuccesful lock. Can any good lock carrier codes be placed in the OP for those of us that are attempting that method? Right now I can't do the unlock with out a working carrier lock code. :)

No, you just place the android-sdk-windows folder in the C:/ drive

ok so once i put that folder in the C drive, do I initiate the 1 click rooter? And then the bat file to get the unlock code?

i have the android sdk and avd manager open and the packages are installing. After it installs will I be able to root and unlock? Right now when the phone goes into recovery mode and i select reinstall packages, it gives an error saying that there is no file to update.

This has nothing to do with rooting the phone. You can do that at anytime. This process is to unlock the phone from the carrier. Just a difference if you weren't sure.

i cant get it to root or unlock. When I click one click root, it just goes to that cmd prompt saying my device will go into recovery mode, but it never does.

When i run the unlock code generator it says device online and it doesnt give any codes or anything.

Im stumped.

Be aware that places online charge $25-$30 for the code, so please donate.

PLEASE give credit (and donations if you can) to:
    • DaGentooBoy For optimizing the mac and windows scripts, and a lot of troubleshooting :D (Paypal)
    • rbnet.it and marcopon for the cool SGUX utility to extract it (donate to marcopon and rbnet.it Paypal)
    • RazvanG for pointing the un-freeze code (Paypal)
    • Bowsa2511 for the command to extract the unlock code on a Mac & Pc (Paypal Paypal)
    • nbs11 for fixing and optimizing my original mac script, and making it an easier 1-click program. Paypal

This code may not work. If you enter the unlock code wrong to many times or if it gives you the wrong unlock code your phone may become bricked. By continuing you will take full responsibility for any damage. I am not liable

    Prep:

    • Make sure that Network Lock is the only thing on... go to phone and enter *#7465625#
    • Make sure USB debugging is enabled (Settings->Applications->Development->USB Debugging)

    Step 1: get the code

    For Mac

    1. Download the Samsung Galaxy S Unlocker
    2. Mount the DMG and drag the folder onto the hard drive. DO NOT DRAG THE ICON WITH THE LOCK (the app). Once the file is finished copying continue.
    3. Open the application with the lock. It should open a terminal window. Let it run for a few seconds and then it should show the unlock code
    4. Save/write down the code
    5. Jump to step 2.

    For Windows

    1. Download and extract the attached Galaxy S unlocker windows.
    2. Run Generate_Code.bat
    3. Look for the line Network Control Key:YourCode
    4. Save the code
    5. Jump to step 2.

    Step 2: Entering the code

    1. Power down your phone
    2. Put in a SIM card from another carrier
    3. Power up your phone
    4. When it boots up it will ask for the unlock code that you found above now enter the unlock code you generated in Step 1.

Don't have another sim to unlock the phone with? (Thanks RazvanG)

    1. remove sim card
    2. power on phone without sim
    3. enter *7465625*638*# and relock the phone to another network other than the one u have u'r sim card (eg 22610)
    4. power off phone
    5. insert sim card back
    6. power on and enter nck code extracted from .bak file
    7. phone unlocked

Step 3: Flash back (IF THE CODE WAS UNSUCCESSFUL)
Flash back to an older firmware.

It would seem that you do not have the android SDK installed in your windows setup.

from Windows when I launch Generate_Code.bat it writes this:

I don't understand how to install this Android SDK...
and how to change something using it...

If you're on windows, download this

    http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r06-windows.zip

    If you're on Mac

    http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r06-mac_86.zip

Then download the zip file in the original post for your OS, and follow the instructions. Super easy
