I've had to return mine, turns out mine DID have the phantom touch problem in the end.
Word of warning: to those thinking about it in the UK, DO NOT purchase from Curry's/PC World. I rang their support to see what I'd need to do, and the 'advisor' I spoke to responded like I was lying. He told me he'd heard nothing about any faults (never heard of using Google then), and that'd I'd need to ring Asus to get it sorted, even though I'd only purchased it 13 days earlier. The worst part is when he starting spouting rubbish about the difference between hardware and software faults. I'm not an idiot, I've been using technology for years.
I took it into the shop yesterday with the fake touch tester installed to prove it to the assistant, who fortunately believed me. I got my money back for now. I'll wait to see if these issues are addressed. I wouldn't get from either store though, I think I was just lucky about who I spoke to in the end!
My only hesitation now is whether or not I'd actually use the tablet! My wife said that she watched me use it in exactly the same way I use my One X, so I don't know if its actually worth it for me. I may hang on to see what the Nexus 5 is like and get that instead. I LOVE vanilla Android, which is my reasoning there!
Hope that helps a bit.
