I am still on Froyo Kernel. I have one of the Endless7 ROMs installed.

Which of the two (CM9 / CM10) is currently best? (regarding calls / SMS / general apps / wifi / nothing weird or strange)

Thanks!

I'm currently using CM10 and overall is very nice for general use, if you choose to install CM10 then follow the guide on the OP of the CM10 thread, there's a little how-to for upgrading the kernel

OP = Opening Post ?

It only states that you need to install it and the link to download it. I am looking in : http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1827801

Installation guide for CMx roms users

1) Optionally: create a backup of your data
2) Ensure you have GB kernel flashed. If you are upgrading from CM9, there's nothing you need to do. If you are upgrading from my CM7 ROM, flash kernel from this image first.
3) Install latest CM ROM image file.
4) Optionally: install Google Apps
5) Wipe data and cache partition
6) Reboot and enjoy
7) Optionally: use Baseband switcher app if you have any troubles with phone signal.

That's the mini how-to... it's really really clear:
If you're upgrading from CM7 you have to flash the .zip provided... then flash the ROM, then wipes... and reboot

Yes, you can flash it thru recovery...just make sure to download EU GB file and wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache (no need to wipe Data/factory reset).
Reboot and enjoy.

P.S. And don't forget to install GApps after you install the rom file

And what's your impression on this ROM speed in comparison to for example stock GB? It's hard to believe CM9, that was told to be less smooth than CM10, is the fastest.

Yes I can't believe it but it is true.

My phone based on 2.3.6 personal.but I suggest you don't flash any bootloader 4(don't have any downgrade method).

CM9 based on cm7 gingerbread and danik was said in his post (custom kernel v5).
This rom work in 2nd-init mod then work on custom kernel.

Sorry for my English

As it was mentioned before all the CM10.x rom use/have so called "project butter" which does not use CPU, so rom smoothness is not reflect by benchmark results.

maybe but this ROM in gaming is smoothness for example NFS Most Wanted.

When danik say- :

6.04 - New stuffed kernel! <Rev5>
- Added VSEL1 Custom code** for better battery <read info>.
- Added ril on ramdisk so any older GB based roms have baseband supported <CM7 , MIUI GB , and also CM9 runs on GB>.
- Changed to gZip compression for ramdisk , had Loseless on previous release but it caused Code Corrupt if using BL 4.
- Fix BL =4 users updating cdt.bin after flash. <This is for me ,not really important , just a fake signature>
- 1400Mhz Core limitation on this release <want to make sure people don't destroy their device>.
- Added NTFS Module UPDATE 18/04 - Unstable , use ext3/4.

- i install CM9 and see Custom kernel is Fully working.  :good: .

    Hi All,

This rom is based on tezet framework, merge cyanogenmod latest source code and camera code from defy. Its still a ALPHA version, bugs report is welcome.

    Working:
    - Features from tezet rom.
    - Recording (works, but unstable)
    - Panorama (built-in camera app)
    - Barcode scanner
    - VPN(PPTP MPPE)
    - 1% Battery
    - H264 high profile decoding(but laggy!)
    - HWA (all credit to nadlabak, excellent and fantastic works bring whole BL devices to new stage!!)
    - Chrome (http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=28506029&postcount=356)
    - Flash(not good on live codec)
    - USB Tether

    Not working:
    - Crystal Talk
    - Wifi tether

Any chance to upgrade to Jelly Bean? Porting JB to my kindle fire was really quick, it took less than 1 day. And everything is quick and smooth.

Since defy/defy+ has JB now(by quarx2k! very cool!), I am sure we can have it no problem.(a lot functions work on defy's JB now)

When? After I solve major bugs like hw keyboard&brightness on ICS.

Read first post: " not working: HWA (include Flash, Chrome)"

HEY GUYS , some great news for you all :D

DEFY has got complete HWA ( or HUI ) working on this locked kernel :D
everything including Chrome , flash player is working , it is as fast as any other official ICS ROM ( buttery smooth ) :D

if you guys can compile all those changes into ur rom , it would be great :D

nadlaback ( milestone 1 developer ) made this achievement of running PVR SGX 1.8 ( stack loader ) on the locked kernel :D

also to mention : FULL HWA is working on both FROYO and GB KENELS ( so it should not be a great problem for you guys ) :D

Look like defy has HWUI on CM9 (at last on CM9 based on froyo kernels, looks like Defy+ and GB based kernel still have bugs)

The GPU is the SGX530 on a OMAP 3610 CPU (OMAP3620 for Defy+)
We have the same SGX530 but in a OMAP3630 CPU.

Is the solution applied by the Defy team be applied to our CM9 ?

Yes, it works on MS2 too, but there's a problem. Flash11 is not working with TI.720P.Decoder.

If I can bypass this problem, I will release a update version this weekend.

    Hey guys,

I had problems with running Chrome (10s crash) too and it seems I found solution:

FC Chrome, clear data & cache, then run it and DO NOT CHECK "send crash data" box (as it seems to crash app), just accept the conditions and then log into (or don't) your google account. My Chrome stopped crashing after that and it's synced with my PC Chrome.

    Love the Devs <3
