Hi Geno,

Any chance of doing a X5 Setting app (like MIUI and CM7) for for this official release.
This app with the force mic option would be a must.

Thanks

Installation Instructions
flash it like a rom, don't wipe

Sorry, I searched the forums, but can't find a decent description (and I wouldn't want to brick my phone)
So how do you flash this kernel? (I've only flashed official updates from Huawei so far - currently U8800 V100R001C00B522G001(Normal)(Gingerbread) - Rooted)
** EDIT** Ok, I read in the mean time I should do thid with CWM? Is this the only way?

And does this kernel also work on the 'final' gingerbread?

yes, you have to flash it with CWM.
The correct CWM for this model is 5.0.2.7.

Yes this OC kernel will work with "final" version of official 2.3 (28/12/2012).
I'm at the present using it in my cousin's device which I have been testing for the past days.

If your device is rooted, then the next step should be installing the CWM.
You have a very good tutorial here:

Okay, thanks for the info!
I followed the tutorial for rooting and removing some bundled apps. I didn't see any reason at the time for installing cwm though...

There is an issue applying this kernel. Call In volume is too low even if it is set to MAX. :( Can someone take a look for possible solution? Thanks!

Brgds.
