So now there is a Safestrap that works with KitKat, so the flashing instructions can be probably simplified a bit.
Hi,
I used the following steps to update my MK2 rooted unlocked AT&T S4 phone to NB1.
I337UCUFNB1_Stock_Rooted_ROMwTethering
1. Place the ROM zip in the root of your ext sdcard.
4. Boot into Safestrap recovery, perform an advanced wipe and wipe everything except ext sdcard.
5. Flash the ROM zip in Stock Slot.
6. Press "Home," then reboot into Download Mode and flash the I337_NB1_StockPartitions in PDA slot in Odin.
Once complete the phone will apply an update to cache, then reboot and pause on the white AT&T splash screen for about 1-2 minutes before completely booting into the ROM. Done!
However, after completing the above, I cannot lock my screen. I saw the following known issue:
Known Issue: If you have never updated from MK2 to NB1 you may experience an issue with lockscreen settings. The issue can be resolved by flashing the FMLD_Bootloader in Odin. You will still be able to revert back to factory stock MK2. NB1 users should not flash this file as it may hardbrick your phone.
Can I flash the phone with the above file? If Yes, should be go into the PDA slot or Bootloader slot?
Please help me resolve the lock screen issue. Thank you.

Is there any other way (other than paying for an app) to get the lock screen options (password or pin)? Thanks.
Tried FMLD_Bootloader file with Odin 3.07, PDA slot,
<ID:0/003> Added!!
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..

<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> I337_FMLD_Bootloader.tar.md5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..

question :
is it imperative to use safestrap 3.72 ?
I did the step as in the op.
did the first step : check
did 2nd step : check
did 3rd step with saferoot: check
did 4th step : check
did 5th step :check
die 6th step : now my PC doesn't see my phone
so odin doesn't see my phone
so I couldn't flash the 1337 partition
and so I rebooted back into safestrap and tried it again
but odin 309 keeps failing.
I tried to reflash the
ALL_ATT_I337UCUFNB1_I337ATTFNB1_505595_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT file through odin
but it keeps failing as well as any all other files
can someone give me some help with this?
thanks,bigcid10
Are you placing your phone into download mode to flash the step 6 file in odin?
1. Download the MK2toNB1_KeepRoot_OTA.zip and place in the root of your ext sdcard.
2. Follow steps 2 -3 from Post#1 to downgrade from NB1 to MK2, root, and install Safestrap.
3. Boot into Safestrap recovery but Do Not Wipe.
4. Flash the KeepRoot.zip in the Stock Slot and once complete press "Home" and reboot into Download mode.
5. Flash the NB1_Stock_Kernel in Odin's PDA slot.
I'm on AT&T I337 Stock MK2 Rooted / SS 3.71 and when I go to flash the keepRoot_OTA zip in SS I get "MD5 file not found. I know the MD5 file is there because I ran MD5 Checker & verified the hash and all matched. I'm on SS 3.71 Stock slot while trying to flash. Should I be on ROM Slot 1 when flashing the zip file to the stock slot?
Thanks in advance
No stock slot is the correct slot. I tested the latest version of the OTA.zip using SS v.3.72 and recommend using 3.72 exclusively. Try using v3.72 and let me know if that works. thanks
EDIT: make certain the "zip file signature verification" box is unchecked. There is no need to check sig.

I've perused through several different threads.I'm following these directions and rooting and installing the ROM in the STOCK slot. That works and I end up with a rooted NB1 ROM.
I'm having issues installing GoldenEye 26 SS after this point. The instruction in the OP say in order to put another custom ROM I need to boot into SS recovery and advance wipe everything but external sd. I do this but when I install Goldeneye in the STOCK slot it boots up fine but after it boots I end up unrooted and no wifi. Any help you guys can give I would really appreciate. I hardly ever ask for help but I've tried everything.
I removed xposed framework and modules, will triangle away prevent the zip from flashing? Thanks again
I'm guessing that this is for both NB1_Stock and NB1_Stock with tethering ROM? To flash the NB1 KernekModules.zip

Just a quick update: earlier today I got my S4 running rooted and running 4.3 with Safestrap and the Wifi antenna fix. It's been working like a charm, and I can finally get full use out of my phone. The whole process was a bit more agonizing that I was expecting, but the important thing is that now everything works the way I want it to, and I am loving it. You guys are the best. :good:
thanks for that info. i see theres quite a lengthy and technical thread on unlocking. ill have to keep an eye on that. i did manage to find a 2gb sdcard thatll work for now. if xposed works fully, ill be happy for now. but bootloader will need to be unlocked for future updates past kitkat and when att stops providing updates. if i know att, this may be the last update from them...
