Updates are meant for more than just adding complexity, wouldn't you agree?
(I'm talking about bug fixes).
There are several properties set by the Supercharger script, that is all needed for our purpose on NC. Supercharger script runs only in the boot time to set those properties and the rest is done by the Android OS. There isn't any bugs for such a simple task and the script has grown to an enormous size just for a couple of OOM optimizations we need.
In the next build, I will set those OOM properties in the ROM and remove the recommendation of Supercharger from the OP since it will not be needed anymore. The current users of Supercharger script will either need to remove it or do a clean wipe before flashing the next build. And we will direct all of the further Supercharger questions to its original thread.
Well, I haven't gone through the script for update 8 as much as I did the later RC's, that's for sure. And reading code is less than second nature for me, to be quite honest. I just remembered that the unsupercharge and unkernalize options checked in system for the 99supercharger file in update 8 as well.

I have uploaded the new 04162012 build.
Although I have synced with the CM repo, main reason for this build is integrating the OOM optimizations in the ROM. The following changes has been done in the corresponding lines in init.rc.
Since there is no need to use V6 supercharger script anymore, you can run the script to uninstall it before flashing this build. If you still want to use V6 supercharger, you can keep it and choose your favorite settings. The settings above will simply be overwritten. Please post your related questions to the V6 Supercharger thread.
As always thanks to dalingrin, fattire, keyodi, and all of the CM developers. A special thanks to zeppelinrox for his V6 Supercharger that we have used so far.

I had a PM about uninstalling V6 Supercharger script. Please do the followings assuming you are keeping V6 Supercharger script that you had downloaded from the V6 thread to your /sdcard directory.
- Run terminal emulator and use the following commands
- Type "su" without the quotations and tap enter
- Type "cd /sdcard" without the quotations and tap enter
- Type "sh V6*" without the quotations and tap enter. V6 script will run.
- tap "0" for selecting scrolling speed and tap enter
- tap "14" to select option UnSuperCharger and tap enter
- tap "17" to exit and tap enter
Done!
You can delete the V6 Supercharger script and other related files from your sdcard after this. If you had already deleted them without the steps above, it does not mean you have uninstalled the script.

I just put cm9 on my wife's NC and its pretty laggy To say say the least. This rom looks pretty impressive any body try the latest build how is the performance/stability.? I will be installing it on internal not SD card. She really llike cm9 but wants Netflix and YouTube.

It seems there are couple of optimizations that could be made if you are interested.
Turn off read access time for the sdcard and emmc. Inspiration here. Just the first part of that script. It appears to be off everywhere else that I think matters.
Turn on ext4 journaling write back mode. Inspiration here.

Thanks, there are so many options in those links. Not all of them are applicable, some of them may be unsuitable, Let's test them one by one in the future builds.
Say how far you want me to go. I'll be glad to provide what I think is appropriate for the Nook Color out of those scripts. But ultimately it's your ROM.

Amyone else having problems with playing certain YouTube apps?
now when i installed this rom i installed the wrong gapps cause i couldn't find the 2.3.7 gapps I think i did but after flashing the wrong 2.3.5 gapps no gapps showed up.. if you guys have a good YouTube experience and have installed correct gapps can you please link or share your gapps build number im trying to use i think 20121016 < i think i know it had a 16 at the end lol sorry the wife has it reading im just trying to make it a great experience for her thanks for all the help!

I'm EXTREMELY impressed with the performance of the new 4/17 release. I was debating on selling the nook color due to sluggish performance.
Now after installing the CM7 Mirage CM 7.2 - RC1 4/17/12 build, and following the instructions by BitingChaos listed below.. my nook color turned into a speed demon!

Thanks Misry. I used these settings (or fairly close to it). NC is running very well. Only thing I cannot get to work now is the Watch ESPN app. It starts, I have audio but the picture freezes. I thought your settings would help out but no dice.
Where to get the 4/17 release? I only find 4/16 from the OP's download links.

I am reading magazines always through Mantano, which has the least lag in turning pages. Today i used a friend's iPad 2 to read a magazine... oh boy it was much easier reading magazines on the ipad! Huge difference!

Installation:
- Just follow Eyeballer's guide.
- If you are installing MiRaGe for the first time or upgrading after a long time, complete wipe is recommended.
- When upgrading from a recent MiRaGe build, do wipe cache/dalvik-cache only.
- If you do a clean wipe, you will need to flash gapps again. You can find it here or here.
Recommendations:
1) Regarding the status/notification bar force close issues, I recommend unchecking the "disable full screen" option in the Tablet Tweaks to avoid the status bar crashes. This also improves the app behavior especially movies and games that need full screen. To bring the soft buttons back in the full screen mode, I recommend Button Savior (available in the Market). If you had tried this app before, Button Savior developer greatly improved the app lately. When I enable autohide feature in Button Savior, it does not occupy any space on the screen. I just use the short swipe option at the right edge of the screen and bring the soft buttons when needed. Since I keep the soft buttons on the status bar, Button Savior is only used when an app goes to full screen mode. You can even remove the soft buttons from the status bar completely if you prefer an uncluttered status bar.

I have updated the ADW Launcher with the latest version which is working much better than the previous version. With only this change, I have bumped the build number to 11102012. This will probably be the final version of MiRaGe for Nook Color based on CM7 since the development has reached to saturation since some time. There isn't much left to do here. I am planning to base the future builds on CM10.

This is just a compilation, you have a lot of thanks to click before you click mine. If you would prefer to install to an SD card first you"ll want to take a look at verygreen's thread.
First:
1) Use Win32DiskImager to write the 1gb_clockwork-3.2.0.1-eyeballer.zip image to the boot SD hereafter referred to as the CWM card.
2) Download encore_CM72-MiRaGe-11102012.zip and write it to the CWM card.
3) Download gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip and write it to the CWM card.
4) Boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery.
5) Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the side volume buttons to move around, and the n button to select.
6) Optional: Select backup and restore to create a backup of current installation of the Barnes & Noble Nook Color. Standard Caution: If you don't do a backup you won't have a backup. Excuse me, I'm gonna go do a backup,
7) Select the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
8) Then select the option to Wipe cache partition.
9) Select Install zip from sdcard.
10) Select Choose zip from sdcard.
11) Select the encore_CM72-MiRaGe-********.zip.
12) Install the Google Apps by performing steps 9 - 11 again and choosing the gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip.
13) Once the installation has finished, select +++++Go Back+++++ to get back to the main menu, (I use the power button as a back button), and select the Reboot system now option.
14) Last thing before you hit reboot, pop out the CMW card and put your storage card in.
The Barnes & Noble Nook Color should now boot into CyanogenMod. (It seems to take longer that first boot, don't sweat it.)

When you want to update...
You shouldn't need to redo gapps or delete Dalvik cache.
You'll notice that during the initial CyanobootMod there is an instruction to hold down the "n" for boot options. Since you're rebooting anyway why not hold down the "n" key and use the volume key to choose the eMMC recovery option. See? It looks just like CWM except slight wording changes. We want to make use of this and at the same time make SD Card swapping a thing of the past. All you should have to do is surf over to mrg666's thread and grab his latest from the OP. At this point I like to move it from the download folder to the temp folder but you could leave it in the download folder if you like. Reboot to CWM recovery option, wipe cache, select the appropriate folder and load the update ROM from it, reboot new ROM. If you where setting at your desk at work when you did this you may now go get a 'Born to Hack' tat during lunch and grin sheepishly the rest of the day.
After that first boot I like to go to settings/about tablet to make sure it "took" then reboot just because I'm a geek that way.

I thought about joining the other developers. But if I leave CM7 there will be nobody left behind to cover the base. If you look at the changelog and user feedback, I did more than just building from the CM repo in the recent months. GB is not new and shiny like ICS anymore but I still enjoyed optimizing the CM7 build and overhauling the encore kernel. Plus I am also building for LG Optimus V. I simply didn't have time left for ICS. There is a little more work I want to complete for the encore kernel. I can try to help with ICS after that.I just don't like leaving incomplete stuff behind.
