I just did full wipe, reflashed cocktail and rom was snappy again with v3

I think that flashing nrw kernel needs fresh rom to begin with...

question

Hi guys, I have a question, the kernel is "boot.img" that makes flash via fastboot?..

What I mean is that if you install the kernel I have to rename this file that you downloaded for "boot.img" and put in the command window "fastboot flash boot-i 0xfce boot.img" ..? one last thing, I need to backup or does not affect the applications that i have already installed on my phone? thank you very much to anyone who can help me with these questions.. :)

no need to rename. just flash it something like this.

fastboot flash boot xray-v3.0.img

no need to backup also when flashing kernels. Just flash another kernel in case you got a problem. will not affect the installed apps.

- yes boot.img included kernel+ramdisk (where kernel developer stored their recovery/scripts/etc)
- no need to rename to boot.img as long as its the right file to flash in fastboot mode.
-> fastboot flash boot boot.img also will do the trick
- flash boot.img in fastboot mode doesnt affect your apps/roms.

i recommend you use flashtool by androxyde. can find it at sticky thread OR here - QuickIMG

EDIT: damn .. am late a few sec before kizsleg. does timezone made me late? :)

i agree with jj, its really perfect. i noticed the big improvement especially in battery usage. apex launcher became more fluid now. as for sleeping i think im gonna try it again when i got home. because i got some wakelocks from v3 with wifi on which i didn't experienced from 2.5.

Here's my feedback:

everything perfect with kernel 3.0, instant deep sleep when screen off (no matter if Wifi on or off, etc).

With kernel 3.0.1 no more deep sleep at all, even with wifi off or forget network.

Installed 3.0 back and deep sleep is perfectly here again.

It might be specific to something with my setup, but to me 3.0 is perfect regarding battery drain issue.
(Using JJ's hybrid v3, did not full wipe between kernel changes, only cache wipe)

we got different situation here. in 3.0 2 to 3 mins before it went to sleep. but in 3.1 i only got a difference of 2 seconds between awake and screen on time which is really good. :)

Why do you make some kernels pre rooted and some not? Your latest one is not pre rooted so I had to flash the su fix. Y is this?

Never had the problem like yours. have you already flashed the Superuser attached in the OP the first time you flashed this rom?

    2) Get this awesome tool called Flashtool and install. Dont forget to install usb drivers from "Drivers" folder too.
    3) I assume you have download one of my kernel. Get into Fastboot mode. How? Do i have to repeat how? Press "Volume Up" while connecting your USB cable. you'll see Blue led.
    4) Click "Flash" button on Flashtool, then select Fastboot Mode.
    5) Choose "Select Kernel to Flash" and find your saved kernel. I'm not gonna find it for you.
