Any help? Am I screwed?
My n7 did the same thing. Bricked in APX mode. With this update. Also was checked with md5 sum. I really dunno what happened

Can I run this fastboot thing without having ADB recognise my device at all?
I'm on Windows 8, and ADB is totally, totally ****ed.

Fastboot works, though, so do you guys reckon I could install the new bootloader without bricking anything?

Ignore what I said- it does work with fastboot on windows 8 if you haven't got ADB installed. It works perfectly.

I researched and found reason to believe that this bootloader is necessary if you are on 3.41 because of some bug that prevents that bootloader from playing nice with certain kernels. That would probably be why the M-Kernel didn't want to boot for me the first time I tried it.

I followed the directions verbatim and had 4.18 installed in less than 10 minutes. Thanks!
