here is my experiment :

using french galaxy tab

was using miui 4 ics from here, everything worked fine except gps.

I installed miui 5, no real problem with installation. wiped everything.

first boot : system ui fc + can't detect sim card
setuped root permission : no changes
installed the patch : no changed, still fc at start and still no operators detected

rebooted on recovery, wiped everything again, reinstalled miui 5, immediatly installed patch, rebooted : result is many fc at start and can't even pass through first config (system ui, xiaomi system fc)

rebooted recovery again, reinstalled miui 5 : still system ui fc ans still no sim card detection
tried to setup root permissions : root management fc

still testing, but might go back miui ics

mmmmm fails to recognize the sim?

1 install rom
2 activate root permissions (apk in folder system & security)
3 reboot recovery apply patch

The patch can not be installed from the start, may not start for several fc
if it would work from the beginning, I would have implemented in the rom and I did for the problem of fc
the method I posted is what I have not had major problems

I'll try to implement p1parts.apk (galaxy tab settings) but by bringing version 3.4.12 fixed bugs like copy / paste, external sd no fc settings.apk, etc

ok here are the news.

restarted in recovery

wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache
install miuiv5-3.3.3.29p1.zip
*install complete*
reboot device
at first boot, as auto-install was on screen :
system ui fc
sim card detected

turned on root permission

installed patch

restarted, long time before I could do anything + "no service" status

system ui fc message, then carrier detected and tab was usable.

I'll tell more if needed after some time using it

Can not sync GOOGLE CONTACTS..

please post any solution to sync google contact
I'm not able to see any option even added the account succesfully only gmail and calender .. also all the gapps like play store.. giving fc..

I have no problem with the sync of google, works well contacts, gmail, browser, calendar

How it is???

i'm can't see any other options rather than GMAIL & CALENDER

any solutions for this ?? i hav already done full wipe 2 times

Do not understand how come the contacts and browser, in all tested versions 3.3.29 and 3.4.12 no problem with google synchro
The wipes before installing the rom, if done after installing the patch fc many things

I've tried by this way.When I covered these two apks with cm10 extracted package,I can see the advanced option menu.But the USB fast charge button was grey,cannot be pressed down.
Gladly,I've tuned backlight time and vibrator power,and it remains valid after I recoverd those two apks in miui v5.

Yeah!
The usb fast charge is off,and I can't tune it on.

so do the HDMI dock option.
But vibration and led option works ok.

after some uses,

everything seems to work, not any problems with google apps (market, contacts, calendar)

not anymore problems with carrier detection

could totally personalize (ringtones, theme)
a little difference beetween miui 4 and 5, I couldn't install any theme without opening a xiaomi account (not so easy to do it in chinese)

wifi working perfectly
(internet browser just a little bit slower than in miui 4)

bluetooth not working, couldn't activate it

if I may ask for more langages (like french for example) in some next version

-still not tested gps, but I allways had difficulties grabbing satelites signals-

yesterday evening I tried again, didn't seems to work but this morning it was on.

So to be clear, BT works but takes times to activate.

results :

Bluetooth works well and syncs with devices
Maybe make 2 versions of ROM, Multi so that everyone can enjoy in your language and the other Spanish, English and Chinese (as version 3.3.29)
My autonomy of the battery, 5 hours of active screen
Gps, I recommend:
Compass and make an 8 in the air (to calibrate)
Check reception of satellites with "GPS status" free play store

Please check your model, settings / about phone / model
It is P1000, you can install the rom without problems
