I don't see a qosmgr file in bin?

I did the others but battery life still isn't too great compared to MD4

Was a copy paste that's not there. But I did that debloated removed all Samsung apps. Use greenify with donation xposed module. My battery life's the same. I'm o.c too to 1.78mhz

I have a question.. So i updated to the newest firmware MK3 with stock everything, stock recovery, stock kernel, stock rom.. Now I am wondering if I can root now without bricking the device.I have not looked into this so I don't know how. I am just looking to root this device. And it does have KNOX because I looked at it on setting where android manager is too but KNOX is not on.

Your Knox boot loader is always "on". :) But it can be rooted easily just read around on these forums. I think the easiest way would be to flash cwm or another custom recovery in Odin then flash either cnexus' stock rom with root or one of the other 4.3 stock roms we got here. But you said you just want root so you could flash the supersu zip in cwm then. Either way you won't brick your phone just trip Knox counter in bootloader.

For those of you that need it, I extracted the stock MK3 tar from Kies (since all other sites are ridiculously slow) and I'm uploading it to my site and AFH right now

Will post as soon as it's ready

I have stock 4.1.2, MD4 baseband.

What do you suggest I do to upgrade to 4.3 without the knox boot?

the ota notification is getting annoying....

Any word on getting past the new security and flashing roms for thos that already upgraded to 4.3. And also about resetting the new boot loader count.

Finally. Sigh. This has literally sucked away my life for the past couple days...but I win!!

You guys ready for 4.3 that does NOT require being on the Knox bootloader? ;)

Just an update for you guys:

Modem is pulled, making it into a flashable now
System is pulled, someone is uploading for me so I can start the rom
And meanwhile I am disabling SELinux in the kernel :good:

You must be on 100% stock odexed MD4 to flash this (rooted/unrooted doesn't matter)

Just posting this here for people to find it easily

What does voiding Knox mean? Boot loader flag goes from 0x0 to 0x1

    Notes about Knox:
FLASHING A: CUSTOM KERNEL or CUSTOM RECOVERY on MK3 boot loader VOIDS KNOX
    CANNOT DOWNGRADE TO OLDER FIRMWARE!
Composed of an OS side and firmware (bootloader-side) implementation. Apps (OS components) can be removed, but the firmware components CANNOT.

You can still root on the new firmware...but you can't flash a custom recovery or custom kernel, or else you will trip Knox

that brings a good point. will the new 4.3 update require the new bootloader?
95% that we will be able to run it without the MK3 bootloader

Otherwise I have a few tricks up my sleeve to get everything to work right

We will be able to flash the new modem though, as soon as I'm done pulling the files I need from this test device

Huh. So the answer to #1 is actually No?

I inferred my answer of yes from CNexus' post:

Wouldn't that imply that we won't need to use the Knox bootloader to flash the rom? And can just use TWRP or CWM etc.?

And I guess question #4 would be, can we root it yet?
Yes that was the point of me saying that lol...meaning that you get 4.3, without the Knox bootloader.

    ---

I'll clear this up right now because there seems to be a lot of confusion. You CAN root on 4.3. BUT, if you have the Knox bootloader, it will trip the Knox flag.
What this means for us is that if you flash my 4.3 ROM, you have NOTHING to worry about, because you WILL NOT have the Knox bootloader.
All the issues related to 4.3 (bricks, "not being able to root", etc) are a result of the Knox bootloader. So if you DO NOT HAVE the Knox bootloader, then there is absolutely nothing you should worry about when it comes to upgrading to TW 4.3.
