Hello ,
I've recently acquired a nexus 7 2013 . I know it has got a snapdragon s4 pro and i have read several topics in which they explain that in reality it is more likely to be an underclocked snapdragon 600 than snapdragon s4 pro itself .
Well it's fine , i run Cpu-z and here's what i figured out !
It's named apq8064t , i think the same soc that is built in the moto X .

More or less the same in the Amazon Fire TV, strange they went with the Snapdragon 600 when the Kindle Fire HDX has a 800.

It's an APQ8064AA, you can see it in the device teardowns.

The S4 and one have an APQ8064AC and APQ8064AB respectively and those are marketed as S600's.
It's simply marketing deciding if it's a S4pro or S600.

The fire hdx launched several months after the 2013 n7, the S800 simply wasnt ready at that point.
You could argue why neither of them had the S801 then too.

I meant the Amazon Fire TV not the Nexus, it was only released this month.

Well , i'm kinda confused right now .
Can it go as far as the snapdragon 600 found in the s4 for exemple ? I mean , snapdragon 600's series are all clocked over 1,5ghz, that is to say 1,7ghz in the case of htc one and 1,9ghz for the s4 . if it is truly a 600 it should be able to be overclocked , right ?

Well the nexus 7 2013 is the best tablet i ever had .
It is more than powerful for everyday tasks . But , it is getting older over time so if it has got hidden potential , we should exploit it . That's the point of overclocking , i think 400 mhz more in each core won't be unnoticed ;)

Omg ! That's 12k more than stock benchmark !
Is your tablet stable though , i mean for everyday tasks ? Also , does it overheat ? What kernel and rom are you using ?

I notice some times some slowdowns in some heavy 3D games such as dead trigger 2 . it's not that serious but this means that the device is getting older and weaker over time .

Yes , inside the nexus 7 2013 there is a special version of the snapdragon 600 designed specifically by qualcomm for google . it is the apq8064-1aa , it has got krait 300 cores instead of the old krait 200 but because the snapdragon series are all clocked at least 1.7ghz it is named snapdragon s4 pro !

That's quite impressive compared to stock, are you running a GPU overclock as well, and is it undervolted at 1.9 or is your voltage still stock?

I'm currently at 1.7ghz, haven't bothered to Benchmark it yet; but after seeing that image I will do a benchmark of my own.

Curious on how stable your tablet is..

Nexus 7 (2013)
Asus Zenfone 5Z
This tablet has krait 300 cores and not the krait 200 cores like nexus 4 and optimus g. They are just lower binned and hence and under clocked s600. Have a look at anandtechs coverage of this tablet. Qualcomm might have just sold them for cheap to Google and named them s4 pro to warrant the higher price for s600, which was the then top of the line.
