I used Jay's EasyModder-- with the device plugged in do the following: Type '03' for Mods menu. '06' remap buttons. Then select your re-mappings from the next menu. You shouldn't have to do anything else and the device should reboot on its own.

Follow ur guide, I succeded to root my actv and install launcher. But there are several problems:
1. TTS softwares does not work fine. The app can work, but just no sound. As I know, the app has its own lib and do not need the system TTS service. Could u pls help me out?
2. The Honeycomb laucher could not add allways FC widget and when setting wallpaper

I'm looking forward to ur help. Thx a lot!!
Cloudy,
With respect to the wallpaper question-- AFIAK you need to either push a working gallery apk (Gallery3D.apk (from Cyanogenmod 7.1 for the Motorola Droid. This app will allow you to view pictures and change wallpaper to downloaded images) or install the app 'PicSpeed Wallpapers' in order to change the wallpaper. PicSpeed requires some type of connectivity to work as the wallpaper listings and files are pulled from a remote source.
Thanks and good luck,
Tom

I'm going to release the first rom version for you guys tonight. It'll have all of that in it for an easy install.

I just need to change the dpi back from 95 to 120... as google maps doesn't work with 95. :(

Actually... if you guys want it, the 95 dpi version can be downloaded here:

http://www.cleardroidroms.com/download/click.php?id=71

Flash through clockworkmod. Boot image was created by utkanos and CEnnis91.

Flash through clockworkmod (or rom manager). The includes are back a few pages, from when I was working on it. The ones I can remember...

-superuser, rom manager, google maps and supporting files, utkanos/cennis91's 95 dpi boot image (won't work with google maps, I'll fix this tonight), adw launcher, remapped keys, packageinstaller, and a few other things that I can't remember... lol

Can someone just tell me if I am reading this correct? If I use the MotoACTV easy modder and "Stop ADB" so I can use the moto active app on the PC for a little will it go back to adb after I unplug and plug it back in to use the easy modder again?

Thank you

Not sure about the modder. I'm a *nix user. But the adb command is " adb shell stop adbd " , and to restart it you have to turn device off and back on. Device will not allow adb and USB file system at the same time

Using easy modder "stop adb" stops adb until reboot

Were you able to fix the r/o issue with build.prop ?

Does boot.img still overwrite build.prop on reboot ?

Have you tried with 100 dpi? Google maps works for me and it allows for more screen real estate

Yep, TEG tested about 5-6 settings last night. More than half the buttons/features don't work with anything lower than 120, as that's actually the lowest stock setting of any device. There are about 4-5 settings for stock ones, between 120 for low-res and 320 for HD screens. It just wasn't built for anything lower lol. I couldn't get it to even load below 120. :(

ClearD is right, I do in fact has a properly made boot.img now, in addition to a legitimate back to stock update.zip.

For those interested in the boot.img, the ramdisk includes another default.prop file to be placed in /system (/system/default.prop), which is read right after /system/build.prop in the init process, therefore overwriting the important props from build.prop and allowing the user to edit build.prop to his/her heart's content.

I'm not sure if you will be able to take the 4.55.97 update with this however, the md5sums are likely to be different thereby stopping the apply_patch routine. However, I should be able to manually update the files, but I'm still working on that.

Just be patient everyone, good things are on the way. =)

PS: while you guys wait, you can always do the reverse of what I did, create a default.prop for yourself in /system and add the settings there. One caveat: it won't work for props labeled ro.* because they are read only and can only be set once, so still no dpi changing.

Very true, but the couple times I've typed on the screen. Let's just say rebooting is much faster, and I cus at the device less.

Sent from my DeathStar disabled Android

I have an app that was recommended by jay that's called gs script manager... I think he also provided a bunch of scripts for the app and the scripts include one that turns off adb and one that turns it back on

remap buttons

Hi all.

I purchased a motoactv yesterday. i rooted it no problem, but i keep getting a failure when trying to remap the buttons.

See:
http://screencast.com/t/lVUNdfHtOtK

i didnt see the manual method for remapping them. it looks to be a permission problem.

Also. now that its rooted, how can i connect it to my PC and manage music/wifi networks and such through the moto app? it seems to default to the ADB connection now.

i must say i like the device, ill really like it when i can map the buttons and switch between stock and zeam. i hope i can add pandora, wifi manager, gmaps, gvoice and weather.

also, i thought (wrongly i guess) that email alerts came over too, not just calls and text. im syncing to a razr...hopefully they will add that at some point.

    CWMR ported

    Hello,

I have ported CWMR 5.0.2.7 to the Motoactv (F100) device.

    actvcmwr.png

    Code:
    #include <std_disclaimer.h>
    /*
    * Your warranty is now void.
    *
    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
    */

The procedure for this is as follows. You MUST have working adb knowledge to use this and you must be able to restore using the available tool should any problems arise. This is considered an ALPHA release that may need additional work. I did not have access to the device during the port so all testing was done through TheEndGame7. THERE MAY BE ISSUES, you are warned.

    1) Download this file: CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img
    2) adb push CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img /data/local/
    3) adb shell (become root)
    4) dd if=/data/local/CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p13
    5) exit adb from the device
    6) adb reboot recovery (you should be in CWMR now)

The source for the device config is here. Please feel free to go wild with development on this because I do not have the device and likely won't be contributing much more except bug fixes. If you use this source, please give credit where it's due.

NOTE: there are missing images(known). This is because the ramdisk is EXTREMELY finicky on this device and it WILL NOT BOOT past 3.66mb in size. I trimmed out things that weren't needed in order to make this work. The basic functionality you need should be there. adb is also not functioning properly yet within recovery.

Well, it was a *****, but here is build 2, moving to Beta at this point in 'Moto red' by request of TEG.

There is 1 lingering issue: usb support in recovery. It is a bastard, going to really have to tear this thing apart to debug why. Right now, recovery can backup, restore, wipe, flash roms, etc. All the stuff you're used to working, now does. I fixed images by shrinking the kernel to fit more stuff in here. You should no longer get any weird image errors. I bumped you up to 5.0.2.8 source as well.

Flash this file the same as before via adb and dd.
    CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img

    adb push CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img /data/local/
    adb shell
    # dd if=/data/local/CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p13
    # exit
    adb reboot recovery

Some additional notes I'd like to share that might help you as you mess with this device now that I've played with one.

    1) NEVER use adb reboot bootloader for any reason. You get stuck in a ****tily programmed loop of hell. The way out of this loop is by following these instructions:

    a) hold START, POWER, VOL UP, VOL DOWN together for 10 seconds at least. You should see the screen flicker on and off twice.
    b) plug in the USB cable to turn device on
    c) you should boot back to rom, if not, do it again. It's touchy.

    2) The 'soft' reset is done by START + POWER for 5 seconds.

Enjoy. Source is updated. This will likely be the last update unless I get adb working.
