have got a problem..

I thought i would try GFv2 over the current PMv2, but didnt like it as much.

so i went to do a restore in cwm, but all i get is MD5 missmatch.

does anyone know how to fix this please?

I am just re loading PMv2 back on, but it would be very good if i could restore it fully.

thanks
ian

Have you renamed or moved the nandroid backup folder? If yes you need to rename it as it originally was..(data.hour of the backup)..quite difficult as the clock of the cwm is not the same of the device clock..if you have a copy of the original one in your pc than put that in the sdcard and restore it ... should work cause it has the original name...

But first try to change kernel and see if something changes when you try to restore the nandroid...

if i look into my back up file, for the date/time i want to restore to, it only has 3 files in it. if i look at older dates/times, they have 5 in them.

does this help at all?

Do you renamed the backup file?

If i recall this happened to me once and i did a simply reboot or flashed the kernel again to solve it.

i havent changed the name at all.

i have re installed PMv2, and have tried to restore it, but still doesnt work.

with my phone plugged into the pc, i have tried to replace the missing files in the date that i would like to restore, but that doesnt work.

the only thing i can think of that might of caused it, is that i was using explorer pro to look at my files, and i delited some old back ups that were no good.

anything else i can try at all please

You are welcome... but i didn't understand may be... you are having problems reading a webpage or something displayed or you have problem when you are writing something?

Or both of them mate?

Well both. When I try to write something, the keyboard doesnt contain a few special characters from my language. And when Im on web or in contactlist these characters dont get displayed either. Well they sort of do, but only without diacritics. For example ď is d, ť is t etc...

You can try to flash a new kernel (may be you did the backup with another one and for some weird behavior something happened) or try to regenerate it... follow this topic... http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=976453

the backups are in sdcard/clockworkmod/backup right..have you deleted some files of the backups or the entire backups folder? Cause it doesn't work if you change or delete some files into/from a single backup folder..a nandroid needs simply to be restored as it was created with no changes at all...let me think...do you remember with which kernel (which version of the cwm implicitly) did you made the nandroid? If yes try to restore it using the same kernel..Let us know how it goes

yes i delited some old back up files as they were not needed. i didnt this it would cause all of these problems :-(

it was the sanadard kernal with PMv2, and the same one i am running now

No. The only one fighting is You.

I am very happy now 'cause I have an extremely stabil and nice ROM-kernel-modem combo with ONLY ONE small bug investigated by You.

This ROM , GF V2, was absolutely UNUSABLE before Abyss30 kernel for much people and me too.

You are looking for the problem, I am looking for the solution.

I think all of us had a lot of ROMs with much-much bigger problems before so I think we should be happy with this now.

I know it should be working but it is a so small problem and is solvable very easy if sy wants to.

If You want to solve it by changing kernel I'm almost sure You will get other and bigger problems but it is Your decision.

Fight is over.

Do what You want.

I wish You good luck.

I'll stay on this combo as long as I don't discover any really annoying problems with it. 'Cause it is not a real problem for me...

Apndroid is my friend for a long time so I even wouldn't notice this problem.
With Apndroid it is more simple to toggle and supervise mobile data status.
Red widget=off, green widget=on....

Very nice letter my mate:)

I don't think so...I make a nandroid every 4 days at least and every time I make a new one I erase the second-last made...never had a problem...the md5 mismatch error happens when the backup it's renamed or some files in it get changed...Maybe your it's a random error...don't worry and keep this last backup as it is..I hope from now on your restores will always work;)

i think i have found out why it is not working

in the back up file i want to use the foild called data.ext4 has only got 19.0mb in it. and on my older back ups this fils is around 400+mb

so by the looks of things, it did not save right.

ahahahahhaha was starting my sentence with... i don't think so!!! Great!!! :D

@Ian Jones may be your sd get corrupted or your backup get corrupted also.

Try this one.

Put your device in debug mode and connect it to your pc... start a command shell and navigate to the adb folder... i hope you already have it... so type these commands

adb shell
cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/your date
rm nandroid.md5
md5sum *img > nandroid.md5

It should recreate your md5sum... it seems to be a fix one.

Try it... if you have your backup dead at least you could have a chance to have it alive again :)

Your backup is definitely dead... if you have time to waste you can try to copy a previous (a very close one) data.ext4 from another backup to replace the broken one and regenerate a md5sum then try to restore it... but i think there is nothing to do anymore mate.

You can rename the backup folder as often as you want. It has nothing to do with the md5 sum that is created. The backup just was corrupt. This happens from time to time.

I've never tried on ics but on gingerbread when I had renamed the backup, the cwm gave me the md5 error...put back the original file from the pc and worked fine .. I mean rename the backup folders like those you see in the screenshot
