I posted this in the sony thread but I think it may be more appropriate in this thread.
I am using a z2 tablet with the latest firmware and running into issues. I make it all the way to the end of the process, pass the cleaning stage. I then get a message saying checking to see if machine is rooted, I then get a message saying machine is not rooted.
I am pretty sure the Z2 is rooted as it has been confirmed by root checker basic and I updated the binary on superSU with no problems. I am trying to install the sd fix but I get a red screen saying ( error update failed, platform.xml file could not be updated) Any ideas why?
That is the same as I got. I tried it a couple of times. Same error.
Will have to try and do the Dual Recovery thing I guess...
What is the dual recovery thing? Sounds complicated. The guide made it seem simple. Maybe the guide does not work on all z2 models.
So, to make thinks clear, this rooting method does not unlock bootloader and thus does not cause any DRM / X-Reality problems, etc?
Cheers.
Can anyone confirm this rooting method works on the tablet z2 WiFi only 32gb version? Thanks

I've rooted using this method, had to go through the process 3 times for it to work, but got there I'm the end.
Now there is an ota update that keeps nagging me to upgrade. 314, but I'm guessing if I let it update I will loose root or cause other problems and be unable to re-root.
Simply freeze the update app via Titanium Backup (since, when rooted, it will be useless anyway).

Thanks for your guide. So I don't need to unlock the bootloader? Are there any advantages of having an unlocked bootloader, if I gain root using your guide?
Thanks a lot for this compilation of all the relevant steps!
It makes things really easy as there is no more need for searching hundreds of postings
Would it be possible, to also have an "easy guide" for noobs, explaining how to go back to a stock unrooted tablet (in case you should need to send it in for warranty reasons)?
Thanks again!
