Same problem No notifications but so far only email seems to be effected. For instance, email doesn't seem to be pushed to my phone anymore, and when I manually start downloading from server, I can see the mail icons pop up in the status bar, if I quickly go to notification center I can see it there for an instant, then it disappears from center and status bar. In my mail app it shows unread though. Text messages and Google play store updates are showing in my notification center ok. I'm using an HTC One From Canada which is basically Tmobile on 4.1.2. I just unlocked my bootloader and rooted yesterday for the first time ever. Everything appeared to go fine. I confirmed a successful root by using the root checker app. I used Hasoon2000's all-in-one toolkit and got it from his dev site so I used latest version. I also installed the latest drivers, SDK and supersu.
Now this is where there might be a problem. I did a full backup from a cmd prompt using the adb tools before unlocking and rooting. The command was "adb backup -f Fullbackup.ab -apk -all" as per the instructions on the Titanium backup website. Put the ab backup on my device after the successful root and installed Titanium Pro, which extracted the ab file and voila! Restored my phone to exactly how it was before the root. Even wallpaper, app arrangement, all settings, mail accounts, everything was there. Could this be the problem?
Additionally, when I start titanium backup it says my device id has changed and asks me if I want to change it back to the previous one. I left it for now cause I didn't know if that would mess anything up. Could this be the issue and should i change it back or leave it?
