I haven't installed yet but I'll go ahead and ask first anyway. Does this install the bare minimum ONLY to get access to google play for downloading the rest or is this a large selection of google apps by default? Thank you for this product. It sounds like something that was overdue.

I highly doubt it is bare minimum. I believe it's the original, which includes some extras. Check out slim gapps, it's the most minimalistic I could find

KitKat 4.4.x ART gives me random fc. gmail most of the time. Did reboot a bunch of times, still the same. Missing some in-app detailed info of individual gapps...

Ohh I'm on latest cm11 version.

i am sure you are already in the right place.
after flashing your custom rom, you will also need to flash the GAPPS zip file to make certain google apps available for use.
if you are thinking of getting the individual apks to install, believe me it will not work because those apk also rely on some packages that has already being included in the gaaps.
let me know if i am making any sense ;)

I just mean, with a fresh installed ROM i have no Play Store. Therefor I can't install this useful app :) Nonetheless, it saves time to find the appropriate gapps.

i guess what you mean is "you want a rom with gapps already installed".
well, if so, you will hardly get one because not many developers want to do that.
if you do not want to go through the "stress" of finding the right for your device, i will advise you go back to the original rom.
in my spare time, i can also get you the right gapps (not a promise but i will try)

Almost all rom's have a built in file manager of some sort, you can just install Gapps Manager from there and away you go.

MD5 checksum

Is it possible for the software to do an MD5 checksum once download completes? Or add the checksum value so we can do it manually?

Also, you could work with ROM devs to integrate your software in the ROM, so the ROM automatically downloads GApps once the ROM finishes instaling.

By the way, great software for noobs and pros alike. I hate hunting for correct GApps

may it be possible to select which google services are installed? - Like i only want to use Playstore and Maps.
So if i only could install these two apps with all necessary services, that would be awesome :D

Needs a way to pause/stop downloads, a confirmation box before downloading would also be nice

I believe the whole point of gapps not coming with the phone in the first place is due to legal issues. Don't know if adding an automatic gapps downloader will be any better... and to the dev, maybe you'll want to make a flashable zip for your app to those that don't have a file manager in their rom?

I know you are giving a request, but for now, you can check out yourZgapps (this is super minimal and does not come with chroms bookmark sync) or slim. Just download youtube from google play when you are done

This app is only useful if you do not have the core google apps (which don't come with roms). If you have it, then you don't need this. Other apps like google maps and youtube can simply downloaded through the play store and can survive without being a system app. The main benefit of this is that it saves the hasstle of searching, especially for newcomers to the rooted world

Also you need it for the google libraries needed by certain google app and most importantly to install the playstore itself.

Feature Idea

Why not let people pick and choose their preferred gapp applications? Have some defaults for minimum, full and popular configures then check or uncheck apps as user preferred. Make it like ninite.com.

    Gapps Manager

    Google play link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.itslightness.gappsmanager
APK is also attached because how tf are you going to download from google play if you don't have gapps ;)

    Description:
Gapps Manager easy lets you download the proper gapps (google apps) flashable zip package to install on your custom ROMs.
Currently, it supports gapps for gingerbread (2.3.x), ics (4.0.x), jellybean (4.1.x-4.3.x), and kitkat (4.4.x), art support also available.
Not sure what version of android you're on? It can tell you that also, just select android version when you open the menu.
Never bother with searching for compatible gapps again, or waste your time ending up with gapps that don't work properly for you.

    What's New
    v1.1:
    *Gingerbread force close fix
    *Added a download complete notification
    *Minor bug fixes

Suggestion to make it even easier for noobs:
Auto-detect android version, and automatically recommend what GAPPS for the user? Eventually, if you use 4.4, the choise of dalvik or art before download?
And for advanced users: still possible to choose android version manually.
    2
As someone else has mentioned, will other versions of gapps be included? I'd love to see an app that brings together all the google resources, from slim to zgapps to 0-day pa

I'll be looking over the suggestions over the weekend as I'm busy with school, thanks guys!

I wonder... After I flashed a custom firmware (without gapps), my ROM is missing the Play Store. So how does this help me? Downloading and installing the apk manually?

EDIT: Yeah ok. The apk it is. The OP attached it as well. Sorry.

How about downloading the gapps first , prior to flashing your new ROM.
    Just an idea ;)
